Wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to play ps2 backups with the LAN function (Xlink Kai) on Non backwards compatible models.

I have an original fat PS3 (CECHK01) that i played online with and had no problem setting up the network adapter and playing online using Xlink Kai.

When I load the PS2 backup (non encrypted) through rebug/multiman/PS2 Classics Launcher, and enter Network mode, I get a message saying that there is no Ethernet adapter detected.

I'm guessing because it's not recognizing the Ethernet adapter as being there while in "ps2 mode" But the CECHK01 does recognize it because it was built to

Anyone know if there's a pkg you can install to make the non b/c models recognize the adapter?

Does the Rebug "PS2 Launcher Classics" emulator support networking?

Thanks!

Update:

After some reading I realized that on the Rebug CFW overview it says:

Cobra 7.1 Overview

PRX plugins at boot time (sprx)
ISO Suppport: PS1/PS2/PS3/PSP/DVD/BluRay (Split ISO support on FAT32 drives)
Network Support: PS1/PS3/DVD/BluRay /PKGs (guide)

Does this absolutely mean that PS2 Network(ing) is not supported?

PS2 afaik is only from internal hdd

So when I tried running a ps2 game (Socom) on my PS3 it asked me if I wanted to install to HDD, when I accepted, i was then prompted with a message to install "PS2 SYSTEM DATA file" from the PSN store. I wonder if this would actually work, it will take some time to obtain this file as I do not have PSN access.

update:

I downloaded and installed ps2 system data file and no dice. Ran the game as a classic. Nothing. As an ISO, nope. No ethernet adapter detected, still.

I was afraid this would be the issue....

DEFAULTDNB:
"The PS2 emu is sand boxed, and even the legitimately released PS2 Classics have online/lan features removed.

The answer:
Out of the box = No online/lan features on any officially released games.
PS2 Classics on Hacked PS3's = no online/lan as we are just swapping out iso.bin.enc with another iso.bin.enc and not hacking the emu to do things it cant already do.

Until someone rewrites or modifies the PS2 classics emu files (or associated modules) You will never have online/lan play for PS2 Classics."
