Hacking "What is a legit cia?" (and other noob CIA questions ANSWERED)

Is there a way to play a modded Pokemon ORAS.cia on rxTools? I could boot up the game, choose the language in the beginning but after that it gives me a black screen. I modded some of the character models.

Also, I'm playing on a Japanese 3DS and used a US OR ROM. When I converted it to .cia and installed the un-modded .cia, the game was in Japanese. Is there a way to revert it back to the US ver.?

oh shit , i updated my 3DS XL to 9.9 before i install the legit .cia game
oh well..i don't think i will ever play those games any way
there is only new super mario 2 and monster hunter 4 , both i don't like

So considering that CFW enables you to run unsigned software, does that mean it can be used to run CIA files with invalid signatures ? (for eg. lets say a modified game like an UNDUB)

If I were to make a .cia for Cubic Ninja and install it to my sysNAND, would I be able to
launch it?

I tried installing BBB as a .cia but since it doesn't have a valid signature I wasn't able to start it without booting pasta first.

EDIT:
So doing a bit a reading, legit .cia will work in sysNAND and emuNAND, and will continue to work even if you update to the latest f/w

However legit .cia can only be taken from pre-install games?

So, MK7, Fire Emblem, Majora's Mask EUR...etc

Do I have that right? So a cubic ninja legit .cia capable of loading in the sysNAND will be impossible until Nintendo releases a console bundled with it?

Ok so this may or may not be the place to ask but, whenever I try installing an UNDUB CIA while using a CFW it still gives me a "Invalid Signature" error even though CFW are supposed to allow the running of CIA with invalid signatures.

Probably another noob question ... If I install a universal legit CIA, will I have problems if I go online? I remember that in the past those that used ROMs from the Internet were banned because they all had the same header ....

No. cias use your console as a header. You cant get banned with cias. Or at least its never been reported

Yes, if it's installed to sysnand

If there is no .cia update we cannot go online right? Say Smash bros the latest one is 1.08 but to go online you need to update the game so until someone uploads the 1.1 .cia update we cannot personally update it ourselves via eshop spoofing right?

Game updating and eshop are separate. You can update a game on a lower firmware

No what I meant was to go online, the game has to be updated. Since you can only update games via e-shop and if you're running an illegal .cia the only way you can update it is to wait until someone uploads the 1.1 .cia update right?.

If that holds ground, does that also mean that legit .cia's can be updated via eshop legitly without having to install the .cia update?

You can update games by pressing y on the main menu, I believe it doesn't go through eshop last time I checked.
Legit cias can be updated through eshop
