Should be a trailer rather than a cinematic, watching my character run and shoot enemies for ~40 seconds undermines the fact I'm playing a video game.

Also, fall damage deconfirmed.

The cinematic had me up until the "run and gun" segment going down that mountainside. Yes, it was neat and well done, but that part didn't feel like Halo. To me Halo, even 4, has always felt more like this grungy, gritty slog through a firefight, in a good way, not this more speed-happy, snappy-feeling thing presented in that part of the cinematic. I think my friend reading this over my shoulder as I type summed it up perfectly by saying "They're trying to appeal to the Call of Duty crowd." I played the beta, and while it did feel a little CoD, most of it still felt like Halo in a good way, albeit with a fresh and different set of methods. I certainly and sincerely hope that Halo 5 hasn't gone down the Call of Duty road even further during these last months of development.

I saw someone else say this on YouTube, and I'll try and restate it here...

343 did a good job at hyping up this game without revealing much of the storyline. We are still mostly left in the dark about the full story that the game follows. We just know there's a hunt of some kind, and that a team of Spartans are going after Master Chief. Other than that, we don't know much else. Where it's set, what exactly Master Chief is doing, the full reason as to why he's being hunted, etc.

This trailer is a perfect example of how to correctly hype a game.

I will agree with that completely. They did something similar with Halo 4 and hyping up the whole Forerunner returning thing, though the setup wasn't very deep. It was more or less exactly how it was presented and you had to really get involved in all the side stuff (Halo Waypoint videos, etc) to get the full story. Something that I really didn't agree with, by the way. But yes, this game has a hyper hype train raging along, pushing it. I guess, for those of us that didn't get accidentally distributed/leaked copies, we'll know if it lives up to the hype in another nine days.

Ah, right, the Halo 4 thing was kinda weird. It was spread out between... everywhere. Still, it was an interesting story examining the interplay between MC and Cortana. Really reinforced the "Lone Wolf" aspect of MC. As for Halo 5, they seem to be doing a lot of things right, and I expect the game to live up to a lot of expectations when it launches in a week.

Trust me, I hope you're right.
