I am planning on buying a Wii U. Currently I do not have a TV (temporarily), only a monitor with VGA or DVI-D. A DVI converter would certainly be no option for me due to audio and I only have 1 portable speaker with me for the time being. So I was looking into VGA adapter with audio.

Would this adapter work to connect the Wii U to my monitor?

I could do, but it's only something temporary for 3 more months so I'm looking for a cheap solution.

You can use an HDMI to DVI or VGA cable and a composite cable at the same time. This way you get video through HDMI and audio through the red and white RCA. Works for me.

He doesn't have a TV. He wants to use computer speakers, which won't have red and white RCA ports, so he'd need that adapter to.

A HDMI to DVI/audio cable is cheaper than a HDMI to VGA/audio cable.
