OK lads I think I am off. I have clearly spent too much time on the internet as I was able to read/decode that. Thankfully not in real time and it involved sounding things out like so many learning to read/foreign language learning comedy sketches but it is still too much for my liking.

With just a few word changes for people into game terms

What is hardcore-games / Dominance & Submission?

An exchange of power: One person choosing to surrender their enjoyment to game by their own free will. Because they want to, not because they have been coerced or extorted in any way (so I guess wow addiction). Of course, the surrender only counts if it's intended by the Dominant (suck it smash brothers fans -- word of the gods is your game was always intended for fun, give or take the last go around I guess, and thus can not count).

This dominance & submission can be limited to a single scene, ranging in length between seconds and hours, or be more drawn out. Some people have this kind of dominance dynamics permanently integrated in their game choices.

Because of the vagaries of game design, most of the (convenient) ways for people to have storyline experiences involve one person being "on top," setting the pace and the agenda, and the other person "on bottom," being more passive and receptive. Additionally, games are historically assumed to have win states, with the win state being the aim. As such, it is easy to associate the roles of Dom and sub with masculinity and femininity, and to assume hardcore are typically the Dom and casual the sub. As with most assumptions, this is not the case. In fact, Dom / sub roles have absolutely nothing to do with one's genre or gameplay style.

Hardcore is gender neutral. The Dominant may be male or female, and may be hetero-, homo-, or bisexual (though judging by xbox live voice chat....). So may the submissive (judging by whining on tumblr/kotaku...). Additionally, they have this dynamic because they want to and choose to, not because they have been taught that "it's the way it's supposed to be" [IE Lie Back and Think of England]. Finally, they have detailed options for what parts of their relationship is or isn't included in the dominance. For example, it's very common that the Dominant has no say over the submissive's in game story actions - especially since many submissives are very curated experiences.

Forget my signature thread about literacy, this makes far more sense.
