Before you delete Avalaunch, you might want to consider that it allows faster FTP ISO transfer (using QWIX) than other dashes - I keep it on my box for that reason alone.

Also, before you delete every saved game, boot into the MS dash and check for Splinter Cell, Mechwarrior and 007 Agent Under fire saves, if any of these saves are called "linux" they are exploit saves and should be kept, just in case.

Just a thought, I'm guessing you use wifi for your laptop, so you probably have a router, yes? Just plug the xbox into your router.

Unless it's not in the same room. Or I'm completely wrong.

Ok so I have my friend's laptop, problem is he's using Linux. So I plug the ethernet cable into the xbox and enter 192.168.1.1 as the ip adress, port 21, username and password as xbox. Or is it ethernet cable from router to xbox and then use ftp program on laptop? Tried both ways and I know I'm doing something wrong since neither are connecting.

EDIT: yeah I'm stupid the router slipped my mind, i guess i couldve used my laptop anyway.

EDIT: Looks like my router actually blocks FTP... And the dash board doesn't even have an IP adress for the Xbox, the dash number is waaaay before the Halo2 dash so I'm guessing the previous owner got all the apps through a usb controller adapter. I guess its time to invest in a crossover cable and usb ethernet adapter? I guess I'll update the dashboard too, the guy probably didnt go on xbl to update his system.

I think you need a crossover adapter to ftp direct from a PC to an XBOX, but I can't think of a good reason why you can't FTP through your home router.

When you boot to UnleashX (blue dash) with the box connected to your router, do you not get an IP address in the lower left corner of the screen?

Make sure you boot the Xbox with it already connected to the router, if you connect it once you're at the dash it won't see the router.

Also try booting Avalaunch with everything hooked up, see if that works.

What FTP program are you using? Do you have all the correct settings filled in, this is the guide I used when I first got my box, it's very well written:

I could give you a copy of me C and D drive, ready to go.
It contains the latest dash, patched and UnleashX installed.
D Drive contains all 3 hacked save games (for Mechassault, 007 AUF and Splintercell) + a backup of the original C drive it came with.

All you have to do is go to a filemanager, delete the contents of your C and D drive (DO NOT REBOOT OR LEAVE THE FILEMANAGER!) and copy the contents of mine (which you burn on a CD) to the C and D drive.

Probably easiest and pretty much hassle free solution ;p

Back when you might have needed to, today most crossover or not cable issues are sorted in software as it were by the router/ethernet port you are plugging into.

Alright my modem is probably able to FTP, just a combination of misinformation on the web about it (and by router I meant modem in previous posts whoops) and me being stupid. :P

Also I poked around some things on the Xbox again and noticed some weird stuff, the dash I boot on is probably some really old version of EvoX (since it's all blue, it doesn't do the regular xbox boot screen with the X being created in that weird green area it's just a blue Xbox logo that appears, and when I go into memory card management the Xbox is yellow, if that helps for identifying this at all), but it doesn't show any of the information in the corners like CPU usage, IP address, nickname ect, nothing happens when I plug my ethernet cable into my router either.

One (possibly) big problem I noticed is when I go to the UnleashX dash I decided to check out the option of booting back to the MS dashboard it boots me back to the blue Xbox dash, so the previous owner may have done something to his dash like overwriting it or something? I dunno this is making me currious lol.

Yeah you're probably right about it being the easiest solution, exploring all of this is just really interesting to me. And to get the original Xbox boot up back youy could provide that or would I get it from where ever?

Alright cool, I finally figured out how to FTP... yeah I'm stupid lol

I could provide you with it.
I'll be home tomorrow again, I'll rip the C and D drive of an Xbox (modded) I own then.

Ok so when you get back just send me a PM link to it I guess (since I guess you aren't allowed to share it on the forums or something) and I'll be good on my own.

Why would you delete stuff if you don't know what you are doing? I would just leave it alone why fix something that isn't broken?

By having a good working C drive and E drive stripped of all rubbish, you're sure your Xbox keeps on working and not fuck up on things.
I've got quite a reputation on here and I wouldn't let that fuck up by giving someone a borked C + E copy.

It's kinda like Slayers CD, softmodded C drive with dash installed, only the source isn't Slayers, it's me.
