[CONFIRMED AND ON SALE] GAME confirms Shovel Knight amiibo

630x

After a few rumors started floating around of Shovel Knight being a possible addition to Smash Bros, the European retail store. GAME, posted a tweet telling customers to get ready to pre-order a Shovel Knight amiibo. According to the listing, scanning the amiibo will unlock exclusive content in the 3DS/Wii U versions of Shovel Knight. While this doesn't confirm Shovel Knight for Smash Bros, it's certainly interesting, seeing Nintendo make an amiibo figure for an indie game.

The amiibo is set to be released on November 27th in the UK.

Not necessarily, this preorder is for UK/European countries only, as far as I know. You still have a chance, should this amiibo be sold in the US, which is highly likely.

It's funny, that this rumor spawned all the hype that Shovel Knight was going to be Smash DLC, but since this amiibo isn't a Smash Bros. amiibo, that kinda deconfirms the Smash rumor. It's still entirely possible that Shovel Knight could end up in Smash, but for now, there's no evidence.

Well they're locking co-op on the U and challenge mode on the 3ds behind the amiibo paywall. Damn.
[rage post]

Are you f%$#ing serious? ammibo is just some loophole to make users pay for locked content without the dreaded acronym "DLC". Not cheap DLC either. Splatoon I can find online for $50, the 3 ammibo's are another $50. Its a good thing ammibo has been hacked. Ninty can't milk as much money out of this s@?# anymore.
I change my mind and totally agree with you now. :P

Lemme guess, non Nintendo versions will just have a $10 DLC to unlock those features.

Well, Yacht Club Games can fuck off for denying than 'We can't comment on this' so if I get around to play it'll be pirated.

Indie developers think they're EA and get away with lying.

You're really salty over something that's never happened. If you bothered to actually check their Twitter, there's not a single mention of Amiibo denial or confirmation until the actual reveal of said Amiibo. But who am I kidding, you're just trying to find an escape route so you can shitpost, as usual.

No, they did deny on Twitter so back off trying to defend them.

This looks fake. All the Amiibos have the same pose as the key art on the top of the package. Shovel Knight is in a different pose from the art on the package.

Without funding, Ninty won't be able to make said products anymore. Considering they were close to calling it quits a few years ago, I'll gladly purchase this "expensive" (actually very reasonably priced) DLC. With the restock they are not as bad as they were a few months ago, and if demand is high I imagine a Splatoon restock will be in the works soon.

I imagine that the product packaging isn't final. GAME probably made it so they could be the first cash grab at this. I personally like the "fake" amiibo pose from a few months ago, but Yacht Club Games appears to have thought differently.

While it does look kinda fishy, the fact remains that it's for sale on a major retail site. It has to be real, at that point.

They could have not been allowed to confirm it, maybe a NDA? I hardly think Yacht Club denying an amiibo rumor is comparable to EA's policies, let alone reason for condemning the game itself.
