Now that it's on Github it's educational.Thought Reinand wasn't allowed to be linked here.
What would be the benefit of using this (or any other custom CFW) as opposed to PastaCFW, which allows ROMs?
ReiNAND can use EmuNAND on New3DS which is safer than using PastaCFW which is on SysNAND.What would be the benefit of using this (or any other custom CFW) as opposed to PastaCFW, which allows ROMs?
Anyone has an ability to compile the new release of ReiNAND on GitHub? Thanks.
It can't be posted here as it contains the slot0x25key. Rei's said he'll be creating a new thread sometime later, and will probably post the compiled version there. Can anyone build that latest commit and share? It seems that the FCRAM dump with the start button has been fixed and would like to test it.
Also, it's a good idea to unlink your NANDs to reduce the risk of screwing anything up. This also allows you to update your emuNAND to 9.5 whilst keeping your sysNAND on 9.2.
- Backup the contents of your SD card
- Download the Gateway launcher and extract to your SD
- Run Cubic Ninja and use the Gateway exploit (details on their site)
- Once at the Gateway menu, select "Format emuNAND" (this will erase your SD and set up a hidden partition for emuNAND use - note; this essentially clones your sysNAND, so if you've already got CIAs installed, they'll be copied over to your emuNAND)
- When done you can turn off the system, restore the contents of your SD card, then proceed to run Ninjhax & ReiNAND
* when you format the system it'll ask to connect to the internet - this is perfectly ok and it will not try to update. If you're on 9.2 before formatting, you'll still be on 9.2 afterwards.
- Turn the system off/on and boot to sysNAND
- Remove your SD card - the 3DS will throw up an error message, but it's fine
- Go to System Settings -> Other Settings -> Format System Memory* (this will reset the 3DS back to factory defaults)
- Go through the initial setup procedure then, once at the home screen, plug your SD card back into the 3DS.
- sysNAND will then create the necessary folders etc.
- NANDs are now unlinked - anything installed in emuNAND will not affect sysNAND
Hello,
I just got a new 3ds xl 9.0 and Cubic ninja.
I have installed yesterday ninjahax and Pasta yesterday.
I would like to use the Reinand with emuNAND for security reason. I have installed Reinand on my SD card and I get a black screen because I do not have any emunand setup on my SD card.
I found this post how to create the emunand but I was wondering if there is a tutorial somewhere, I don't want to brick my 3ds?
Should I backup SYSNAND as the first thing when I am able to launch Gateway launcher ?
Yes, making a sysNAND backup should be the very first thing you do. Once it's done, stick the SD card into your PC and copy the NAND.BIN file to your HDD for safekeeping. I've got 3 copies of mine kicking around (one on my laptop, one on my server, and a third backup on a USB stick - just incase!). Even though I doubt I'll ever need it, it's always good practice to keep a backup. I've still got my old housemates Wii NAND backup...somewhere.Should I backup SYSNAND as the first thing when I am able to launch Gateway launcher ?
Yes, with any hackable system. The very first thing you should do, is make a backup of your Systems Nand.

As for setting up an emuNAND, just follow my instructions and you should be good to go. Since you're not installing anything into sysNAND there's 0% chance of bricking your system, as long as you follow the instructions.
If/when smealum open-sources Ironhax, it should be possible to port current CFWs to it with some amount of effort, so you should probably preemptively download it if you're at all interested. Otherwise, the only hope would be yellows8's skater exploit, which probably won't see the light of day any time soon, if ever.
Yeah but again, if you already have the ability to install .cia files, you've got absolutely nothing to gain from Ironhax.A cia of the game is easy enough to create with the amount of downloads of late, heck, i'll post it "on that site". It will not disappear, regardless of Nintendo pulling it of eshop.
You can setup emuNAND from the pasta menu I think, I doubt they name it gatewaynand too
HMMMMM not needing ninjahax each time was the purpose initially. Go to a mates, a shop, run ninjahax once and your good to go with a ironhax cia to launch homebrew menu, unless you really need to format and then there is tools to sort that out for those in the know or willing to follow instruction....Yeah but again, if you already have the ability to install .cia files, you've got absolutely nothing to gain from Ironhax.
But if you have an exploitable 3DS with the ability to install .cia files, why would you need the homebrew menu when you can just install homebrews themselves as .cias? Or if you do really want to use the homebrew menu, why not just install a CN .cia, why bother with Ironfall at all?HMMMMM not needing ninjahax each time was the purpose initially. Hey i don't mind being wrong but that's how i see it, unless someone want to clarify....
