Hmm since I get my sky3DS next week how does the saving function work?
When you play a game, it will save normal, like a original one. But if you want to backup it, you must press the sky3ds button to switch to the next game, then the save will be saved to the sd card. Open your sd card using diskwriter, make a save backup.
If you want to restore the save, just use the restore option on diskwriter and load the .sav file in your computer.
But to restore a save, you must skip the game you restore, for example, you restored pokemon x save, when you load the game on 3ds, skip this rom and keep pressing the button until it loads pokemon x again.
You must skip the rom because just doing this the save will be rewritten.. did I made it confusing?

Na not really I understood it well, so every time I wanna play a different game I have to use the diskwriter program to put the save back?

You know you can play unlimited games on sky3ds right? But yes. If you delete a game, make a save backup and if you want to play this game again, just do a save restore.

Damn so the sky3DS is not so great, I thought you just switch the games and start playing them normally.

Yes that is what you do. You write, like, 15 games and press the button to switch to the next game.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

What I told you about saves, is if you want to delete a game in your sky3ds. If you do that, just do a backup and if one day you want to play that game again, just restore its save. But you can play games nornal in sky3ds. Just write games and play

But didn't you say you gotta put the save back or is already saved?

Edit: Oh ok that's if you delete and game and want it back ok lol. Why would someone delete a game is unlimited space lol. (Unless they got the red button one)

Lol ok
They would delete a game if they are using an 8gb or 4gb sd card. 16gb is perfect, but I use a 32gb. It is also boring to switch games but ok lol
If you use a 4gb sd card and it is full, you have to delete a game to add another one.

the problem i'm having is when i check the sav file in HxD my private header is nowhere to be seen. even tried to search the hex values my header is using and its nowhere in the sav file (im using pokemon y btw)

For type 2 rom you must edit your .sav in HxD, save and restore it using diskwriter. Play the game again then you will get a message saying that your save is corrupted.
If you say yes to that message you will start a new game. that new save will have your private header.

cool, but what do i edit in the .sav in HxD? the one highlighted in red in the first post? and do i just manually input my private header there?

-edit

ok i manually changed the .sav in HxD and inserted my Private header. had to do search for the Up+B+X combination cause i was stuck at the save game corrupt screen but checked the .sav again and it now have my private header included.

so far so good, will test online later.

btw any other type 2 roms i should be wary of?

What exactly is a type 2 rom?

Also, I've tried two sellers now (YeahGeek & New3DSFlashcart) and neither one actually let me check out. Actually, I first tried YeahGeek and when I got to the end of the checkout process I clicked continue and it said my order was placed, but at no point did I need to enter any payment info. It says my order is pending and that my payment info is "Credit Card Payment Gateway", but still I have no clue how to actually pay. New3DSFlashcart's site says my order is "error" after I gave them my card number..

I see a few on eBay for high prices, but is there an actual store you all recommend that lets you check out?

I have a problem. When i go to check if my private header was injected correctly, i get the right values from the SECOND and THIRD line instead of the FIRST and SECOND like in this image: https://i.imgur.com/nvyuT39.png Did i do something wrong?
nope you have it right. the values covered in red is supposed to be the PH, so its supposed to be in the second and third line

Hey guys,
I injected my template for Sky3DS with my own private header.
I copied each ROM back to the microSD-card with the new template after formatting.
Then I started Super Smash Bros 3D online, saved, pressed blue button and backed up the .sav from the SD, then opened it with HxD. It shows the private Header. Now:
I started Pokemon Alpha Sapphire with an old .sav restored (which was saved under public header) and... it worked? I thought old savegames won't work?
If i read the .sav in HxD it shows the public header.
Can you tell me if this is a sign for a not properly applied private header?

@aruna
It could be that your microSD is too slow. Perhaps you saved last time at Chapter 6, then closed the 3DS when sleeping, the microSD goes into Sleepmode too, and...save lost.
Perhaps try another microSD. The black screen with other games are indicative for this, too

Greetings
Chyl
