Jumped into the world of Raspberry Pi 2... and I'm stuck

The idea of a cheap emultion box was so tempting that I went out this morning and bought a RPI2. The first thing I did was take it out of the box, backed up the content of the SD card, formated it and then installed Recalbox. I realised that it wasn't going to be that easy.

I have a tp-link wn725n wireless adapter but no matter how many times I type it into the network settings, it's not setting up. Likewise, the bluetooth adapter and PS3/Wii U Pro controller isn't working. I think I probably missed a major step and forgot to properly update the Pi but I have no idea how to get this started.

I am in this for the long haul so I won't give up on such a versatile device... if I can get it working.

you may have an incompatible bluetooth dongle.

Thanks. Another problem I have is that my TP Link Wn725n adapter won't work so I can't transfer the roms to it. I found out that it needs a driver but I have no idea how to get it to install.

The TP Link Wnèé(n needs a specific driver which can be installed following this tutorial: http://laurenthinoul.com/how-to-install-tp-link-tl-wn725n-on-raspberry-pi/

Anyway I can only recommend you to buy a cheap linux nativ wifi dongle ^^

I was following that guide and I was so close... but I got to this part:

sudo install -p -m 644 8188eu.ko /lib/modules/3.10.33+/kernel/drivers/net/wireless

Which it just says I made an error or something. But I guess next week, i'll get that Wifi adapter. Also, the bluetooth adapter came from a super cheap bargain bin for £1 so I guess it's not going to be ideal. Any recommended bluetooth adapters as well?

You need to install the specific version for your kernel version

Because I updated the Pi.

It needs a little work but its simple and the company makes a ton of stuff for raspberry

A few days off work and I FINALLY managed to get retropie AND the Wifi working! Also, I realised that my current bluetooth adapter is a bust so I bought another confirmed one and this time, I managed to get my PS3 controller to connect wirelessly.

Unforuntately, every time I turn off the Pi, it keeps telling me to press and hold a button on the controller to set up the input. Is it actually possible to get Retropie to remember this so I don't have to keep doing this whenever I turn it on.

Still having problems with trying to get Retropie to recognise the PS3 controller everytime I turn the RPi 2 on. I know it connects and works but the fact that I still have to press and hold a button to configure the input everytime is starting to annoy me. I press and hold the PS button when it's on the splash screen but it still asks me to input the keys.

When it keeps asking you to configure a controller, it's because there's a weird bug with the PS3 controller not pairing and connecting before EmulationStation boots, it's mostly a problem with the way EmulationStation starts up. There are a couple ways around this, the first being to add a sleep command in the startup script located in /usr/bin/emulationstation (which is a bit advanced if you don't know what you're doing), the other is to connect a keyboard and set that up as a controller, then the prompt shouldn't pop up every time you turn it on, even when the keyboard is disconnected.
