Heh, true, I only ever played four-key songs in DDR/stepmania, and never encountered more than two notes being pressed at once (which I figured in PM2 could be handled by adding dpad notes) -- though granted I never exactly considered myself an expert player either =)

I used to play a lot of 4-key, but the songs were more the type that were either too fast for regular humans (myself included) to really play (though I tried), or had hands and trips all over the place (all 4 keys at once, 3 keys at once, respectively). My closest friend enjoys songs like the following:

And by enjoys, I mean that's about the easiest difficulty he'll even touch anymore. -_-

Anyway, it doesn't translate well into HMPM2, so new files will be the better option IMO.

haha. Yeah I never cared for songs that were that ridiculous. I was thinking more for simpler stuff, since the single/double-rail format of PM2 automatically means things are going to be more difficult even with the same notes anyway. I wouldn't place any degree of priority on something like this anyway, since there are plenty of far more pressing things to work on =)

When was this project canceled? No more interest in this one either?
Besides DX, there were too many propitiatory files to work with, and too little available time to invest in reversing them. There was also a large bug with the game code itself that would require reversing a good portion of the rendering engine to make it work with properly kerned English characters.

All in all, it made more sense to just wait for DX, and to invest the time in other more important projects.

I actually needed help getting mine to work again every time I patch the game a 2nd time when I replace something in the romfs. The 1st time it worked, but the 2nd time the other song I replaced kept it's original song when I tested it in game
