I decided to get into custom themes, but I haven't downloaded any themes from the Theme Shop. I'm on 9.0 with an Old 3DS and spoofed the firmware to access the eShop and Theme Shop. The eShop boots fine and the Theme Shop doesn't ask me to update anymore. The problem is downloading a theme. I've tried to download the Sonic Boom theme multiple times, but it always craps out in the end with error code: 009-2999.

Any help to get this theme to download?

You could install a CIA version of it, or the theme pack CIA from that ISO site.
Requires CFW though, but as you're on 9.0 that shouldn't be much of a problem.

I found that I actually had a theme installed on my New 3DS, but I can't seem to get it to work. I copied the cache to the SD and imported custom PNGs into the theme using YATA+. It looked great simulating it, but when I try to import it into the actual theme, it fails to copy and nothing happens. :glare:
I'm not very educated with this kind of stuff, so any help would be appreciated.

Is it custom themes, purchasable themes or both you want?
You can import a custom theme into the default colored themes (non-white) I believe. What are you using to import?

I had trouble accessing the eShop in SSB with an invalid DLC CIA installed in emuNAND. If you have custom themes installed in your CFW then I imagine this is a similar issue. Uninstall the custom or invalid CIA and it should work for you again.

The theme pack is nice too, but uninstalls if you ever access the eShop in your CFW which becomes bothersome as you need to delete about 20 or so from the pack before you can use any of them.

I just want to import a custom theme.
I didn't think you could import into colored themes. I've been following this tutorial: https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-how-to-make-a-custom-3ds-theme.377533/
I'm using ExtDataTool to import the files.

I'll check to see if I have any installed.

Try with CHMM. It's supposedly better.
OK. After trying it, it says "No theme recognized." I decided to download a theme from 3dsthemes.com, but those theme didn't show up either. I put the files in SD:/3DS/CHMM/Themes/ThemeName/ The files put in were body_LZ.bin, bgm.bcstm, and Preview.png. Any idea what simple thing I'm doing wrong is?

EDIT: aaaand it was easy. :) Apparently the theme folder goes in the root of the SD card now.
