I emailed the company and got the beta build of the app. Its cool, but its really only useful if you have the device. You can still install it though, and look around.
Does it need root? It also needs a NFC compatible phone, right? If that's a case, I wait till November with my purchase, because I wanted to buy a new phone in Novemer anyway.

Guys, I don't really know if its gunna be worth it. It is gunna cost 79.95 retail. I emailed the company and they said that it would be expensive due to limited supply.

They're not very confident are thy? This is something that`d sell like hotcakes if the price was lower because it beats having to buy the actual amiibos.
Yeah let wait for a cheap Chinese clone....
39$ - 49$ Max...

I will wait clone for 30$.... I'm not in rush :)

This.

Why are people saying the price is too high? It's £50 for every single Amiibo, even ones not out yet. The ones out so far will cost at least £700 to buy them all :S

ist not about amiibo price, at the end ist just a cheap device .. that's why we think is should be cheaper, and it will be cheaper, when clone will hit the market, just sit down and wait ...

ps : new amiibo here in france is 12 to 15 euro when N release it ....

No, I don't think you have to be rooted. And you do need a NFC capable device.

maybe im wrong but, i dont think you need NFC phone, the device is the NFC read/write, the apk is for managing the bank inside the device ...

but maybe one day we could read/write nfc amiibo with only NFC phone ready ..

80-90 bucks for such a wonder?
I'm in.

80 bucks is nothing compared to what each amiibo is being sold individually.
Now take into account that some of those amiibos are damn rare to find and go up to 50 bucks or even more.

To me, this is one piece of hardware that is worth the price.

You have the option to download and apply all the currently existing amiibos, but it even has storage for 200 more!
And I don't even think Sm4sh will be able to handle 200 characters in its life span. XD

Even better, you can add the non-Smash amiibos.

This is... Genius! :P

I like the idea, but am still going to buy the Amiibo I want. The figures are just too amazingly detailed and awesome looking on a shelf to pass up.

But this will be nice for the Amiibo I don't really care to have on a shelf!

£50 for one amiibo? Huh?

Their SRP is £10.99 on Nintendo Store UK and other retailers go for £14.99 so if you're seeing £50 that's gotta be eBay.

I meant it's £50 for the Amiiqo, which you can get every Amiibo with. To buy all the Amiibo out now it would be at least £700.

You do need an NFC phone, it will dump your amiibo's, and write any .bin files to the amiiqo in the android app with NFC.

Nintendo picked an obscure tag, without emulating that tag type, it won't happen. Android dropped support for that around 4.4 ish I think,

Will this work with the likes of sky landers and Disney infinity as well
Doubt it, why would it?

so...from what this looks like to me: wow...with the fact that Amiibo is the only thing that is making Nintendo any sort of profit. This shit will get canned in a few months.

"the max" has some review copy reviews and videos. This thing has one thing in mind. Emulate Amiibo without paying for them. Sure there is a small group that MAY want it to keep their precious legit amiibo safe. Most are going use it to load Amiibo dumps onto their amiiqo via android app in a few weeks. Sure, Flashcarts have the weak argument of "homebrew" but with here, I don't see any legit alibi to this. Pretty much what i'm saying is: I don't see any excuse that the amiiqo team can use when Nintendo lawyers are ready to cease desist and fine. And they will. Especially that it comes with 5 UNRELEASED (or unannounced) amiibo dumps.....

....I kinda want one :P

As time passes amiibos lose more and more retail value so in a couple of years they'll be available for extremely cheap if anyone still cares about these happy meal toys.

All I want is its physical DLC content.

but did you see activision's stance on NFC Toy hacking?? The guy had a blog on DISCUSSING CONCEPTS on how to hack skylanders and they shut him down and threatened to fine even after he took it down. Amiiqo is no concept. It's the real NFC Toy hacking deal. I will be highly surprised if Nintendo stands idly by

I only asked as someone said it would, they all work the same
