Being that I'm not an MH fan I didn't really have expectations from this either being a good or bad game but after trying it out, I think I just don't like it.

- Graphics look PS2 upscaled.
- Can't take screenshots.
- Online's pretty much dead.
- The game feels lifeless and way too fucking boring.
- I love beating and slashing the crap out of monsters and robots but this wasn't it.

And lastly, why the hell does this game has so much praise? It hasn't aged well and definitely not worth the stupid amounts that sellers are asking for in Europe/UK.

I think I got it for $13 here 5-6 months ago. my boys played a lot when I first got it but only pick it up now and then theses days. I know it is a double standard but I was really not interested in the loin clothes and man-cheek action.

the graphics look ps2 upscaled because they are upscaled graphics from a wii game, and Id hardly call the online being dead a fault of the game when the (much improved) sequel is already out.

With the clunky controls the game has and it's only possible to stun the animals from the quests that I've played.. not my type of game.

Trying to attack an enemy precisely isn't exactly possible either.

To be honest, the reaction I had when I first played a Monster Hunter game (Tri, actually) was exactly the same. It's just a game you really have to get into.

If I may ask, how long have you played? It must not be very long.

It's a mixed bag for me. However, I ended up putting enough hours into MH3U alone to justify the purchase of the Wii U. Unfortunately, I don't really like MH4U because it's not a Wii U games. Hard to explain why I like it I guess.

I passed the tutorial, pre-tut the animals would die and then after during the quests they just stun with stars on their heads and go back to their normal state. Not much fun of a game.

Wish the gameplay was faster and more like DMC.

I tried the 3DS version of 3, and I have the same gameplay complaints. It felt slow, boring, and I just wasn't having very much fun. I completed my first big non-tutorial hunting mission, I tried underwater fighting, etc. I put at least three hours into the game, maybe even four or five, but I ended up choosing to sell the game off. The series just doesn't click with me.

Sounds like you're just killing kelbis. Go on a quest with a full hunt (great jaggi is first) and you may enjoy it more

If you are ever so bored of the slow starting game, then just hop over to Tanzia and start questing there. It'll speed up the process of "getting to the good stuff" considerably.

I'll try that and if I still feel the same way.. Nothing to play on the Wii U till Xenoblade X or whatever is released. I'm not sure I'll purchase Devil's Third with all those dreadful claims.

HAHAHA!
MH3U is an awesome game, BUT,

No it's not an action adventure.
No it's not a hack'n slash game.
YES, it's very japanese.

It's in a small genre of game called, hunting.
Just a few games fall into this genre, but MH3U is the very very best.

It's all about finding / combining items materials etc. No story of substance.
Every monster ( AFTER ALL THE BASIC VILLAGE QUEST ( READ 100+ hours ) is about tactics and SKILL.
Yes this game takes actual skill but also skill as agameplay element.
Every weapon and item in the game takes SKILL to use alongside the SKILLTREES in the game in the form of armor wepaons and charms.

ACTIVATING THESE SKILLS IS 90% of the fun of the game. TAKINGDOW the monster is only 10%.
This effectively is your main goal of the game and can be very very addicting.

Give the game a proper chance and start with the dual swords or sword and shield.
After you completed the 6 star quests let us know, other wise you can even have a proper meaning of the VAST game.

Playing it for about an hour and telling us you do not like it, sound very noobish.

For a fact I know if you do not these kind of grinding games, you will probably HATE Xenoblade X!

I don't mind grinding games but they need to be at least fun, so by Latios' suggestion I'll give it another chance before calling quits.

Sounds like you just suck at the game and you're judging an upscaled Japanese 3DS game with a sequel with way too high standards.

"Suck" now that's subjective.

The gameplay felt clunky, slow, unresponsive and there was no targeting the enemies accurately so the gameplay itself ruined the game more for me than the graphics did. Before this I never really played Monster Hunter due to playing mostly on 360 and PS3 (never imported Japanese games).

I've played MH3U since then but MH4U on New 3DS is possibly a whole lot better as it's a newer game of the franchise.

I have this game and I still prefer the Wii version over the Wii U game mostly because I actually liked the Wii Remote + Nunchuck controls. In the Wii U version I use my Princess Peacb PDP Fight Pad because to me Monster Hunter is a game where you need to know which button does which function at ALL times. The Wii Remote was perfect for that in the Wii version because most buttons felt different. Since the PDP Fight Pad is GameCube styled, it made button management easier for me. Really wish Nintendo would go back to using the GameCube setup as a standard for non motion controllers and just add L1, L3 and R3.

Another thread made by a raged dude that can't even play the game. MH is super fun, you just have to sit and get good. There is no work arround, it's a skill based game.
Besides:
This game is f'n OLD, it's basicly a wii game, just upscaled,
Clunky and slow controls? wtf are you talking about? The delay you have before you hit or dodge is animation based not control based, you change it by the style you play, the weapon you play, basicly the WAY you play. It's not bad controlls, it's a designed game mechanic and it works well in this series. This is not God of War for f sake... But if you rly want it to be like a random hack n' slash button masher, play with sword n' shield or dual blades, not a big a** hammer. MH is a combination of action game and a STRATEGY game, you can't just run to a monster and buttom mash him to death. It's a hunt. Track hin, trick him, slowly kill him. The fights are long, the huge elder dragons can take up to 50 minutes with a team to kill on G rank, but the fights are so tense, you don't even realise an hour has past already.
Cant take screenshots? Yeah... greate complain rly.

I'm not a MH fanboy. MH4U was my first, I loved it, and I DOWNGRADED to MH3U that is not as good as 4U to check it out, and guess what? I still love it.
What monsters did you quest for? Jaggi? ofc its slow and boring at first. Thats because it's shit killing deadly hard later. Go hunt a Zinogre or Deviljho and tell me how slow and boring the game was after he demolish you faster then you say "f*ck".
