Hi everyone. Recently, I managed to brick my O3DS XL by using sysupdater. I wanted to ask; did I just void my warranty or not? Please answer only if you are 100% sure.
Here are more details on the problem:
I used Gateway, Title Manager and Sysupdater.
I entered gateway on emunand mode, and through the menu I selected title manager(BigBlueBox.3ds).After that, I installed sysupdater.I had all the .CIAs needed for updating to Firmware Version 9.0 from version 8.0 in the updates folder on the root of my SD card. Afterwards, I opened sysupdater( while in gateway emunand mode) and proceeded to updating. I saw that it displayed the warning "do not update through gateway sysnand mode or the console will get bricked". I said fine, I am not in sysnand mode so whatever. And then I had sysupdater install all the .CIAs of the update 9.0. When it was done, it said "Update complete. Reboot in 10 seconds" or something like that. Then, it rebooted. But it only displayed a black screen. I turned it off then back on and the black screen was there. In other words, I bricked it...the thing that I find weird is that I actually used emunand and not sysnand...or were I supposed to use emunand?
Anyways, please tell me: did I void my warranty? Some people told me yes, since I actually hacked it while some other people said no, because I used only software and not hardware and that gateway couldn't be detected unless if the files I used actually left a trace on the activity log.
Any help would be mostly welcome.

using any sort of unauthorized software or hardware voids your warranty, i have seen people have their warranty rejected for having the homebrew channel installed on their wii U so they defiantly will void your warranty if they detect any traces of unauthorized software being ran on the system

the real question is whether they would just replace the motherboard outright or try to recover the existing one, if they replace the motherboard then you will probably get away with it, if they run any diagnostics first and detect any tampered files on there then they will say you have 3 options,
1) pay the return postage and get your faulty system back
2) pay for the repair (which will will be quite costly compared to the value of just buying a replacement console and it would be returned to you on 9.8 anyway)
3) have them "dispose" of the system which is just another way of saying "fix it and resell it as a refurb"

upto you i would imagine they probably dont bother diagnosing past pressing the power button and just swap the motherboards, but idk exactly what their procedures are for warranty claims and you risk having to pay out to have your console fixed/returned

Have you tried to turn on your 3DS while holding A+R+L+Up(DPad)? It will display a menu that will let you update to 9.8

Did you void your warranty? Yes
Will you get away with it if you send it in? Maybe... Worth a try.

You did, but if you managed to find some way into your NAND to erase every trace, then you could probably scoot by undetected. The problem is, if it's completely bricked, is you'd have to do a hardmod to access your NAND, which would void the warrenty itself, and you couldn't do anything with that hardmod unless you have a clean backup of your NAND.
