let's get straight to the point , the Vita is said to be a very powerful device almost capable of competing with the old PS3 , right ?
then why is Sony suppressing the Vita that much to the point that it almost killed it ?
why does Sony hate these so called "hackers" ? it's not like they are pirating games or anything , they are trying to use these features the vita has to create even more awesome games or "Homebrews" , the vita has the ability to emulate so many consoles , isn't that something good for the vita community ? or is Sony just pissed that their super secure handheld got "hacked" ? i don't get it !
the vita sales would increase too , and people would still buy games like they normally do .
if only there was a site where you can suggest some features you want in the vita and Sony makes them true , nothing from this could have happened , it feels like Sony is "fighting" with them .
i mean the Japanese store is doing very well in providing new games every week , why not the other stores ? even the PSP is still alive in japan .
----------------
(and yeah please don't post hate comments , i don't know why almost everyone have been hating on the questions i ask here , i am just curious , that's all
i don't remember reading a rule that prevents me from asking questions here ...)

Because it MAY lead to piracy?

It's like asking why you shouldn't be pissed if someone is picking the lock to your front door

Ok @Radwan126, I get your point. I can follow it up with saying that Sony should be at least accepting of so called "hackers". Think about it. Maybe a great deal of people fond or passionate of homebrew and hacking (i.e./ many of those at the Temp) would take this as another selling point for the Vita. It could generate more potential sales for the Vita hardware, am I right?

Dude it's like you read my mind !
yup that's exactly what i was talking about , if Sony made something like a deal with those "hackers" they might bring the vita back from the dead , the sales would increase and both sides would be happy , i just feel like Sony is doing it on propose , the vita has features that if were used right , the vita might even smash the 3DS (okay maybe i went a bit far on this one) , but think about it .
or if Sony wanted to actually kill it then at least stop updating the firmware .

Except the profits from hardware sales are small compared to software sales. If they advertised their handheld could be homebrewed, then they'd be afraid of people just pirating all their games. Not saying people will, a lot of people would but not all, maybe not even a majority, but companies lump homebrew with piracy since you generally have to go through homebrew to pirate.

I could eventually see a middle ground, at least with Sony, where they would allow unlicensed software to run on their system but unlicensed software would have limited resource access (help prevent backup loaders). Even if that were to happen, I think it's a couple of generations away.

Yifan lu said that neither exploits nor the rejuvenate could enable piracy or lead to it , they don't support it
I think you might be a little confused. Sony was already pulling the plug on the PSM thing. Which was why Rejuvenate was revealed. And between the time when it was first hinted to when Sony took action, there was no mention of what the exploit was for etc. So Sony accelerated things to cover their bases.

Dude it's like you read my mind !

I really don't think things are as simple as you perceive them to be. How many people can you say for sure will get it for homebrew. 10? 20? 50? Will the cost of striking a deal etc be justified with the returns? What deal are you going to make? What if said deal doesn't work out?

well .... i am cornered xD
but what i am trying to say is that it's Sony's fault that the vita is dying (maybe it's already dead) .
i mean at least do something about it , it's so powerful ! it could run amazing games ! but Sony failed to advertise the system properly ,that's why only very few developers are working on it , because even if they made games , they won't sell so well , and that's why there are no AAA titles for it , just some indie games , now with psm removed in the newest update ( btw, the vita i bought was already updated to 3.52 T-T) i doubt there is anything coming to it , unlike japan that is

Sony probably has some ideas as to how they can make the PS Vita more popular. At this point, though, they probably don't think such an endeavour would be worthwhile. It has its niche, they probably just want to try to maximize profits from that niche with as little investment as possible, at least until they're ready to push another handheld.

the vita is secure even more than the ps3 , it is going to be very hard to extract pirated games from the cartridges , how about actually running them ? ( i am talking about ps vita titles , not out dated psp ISOs) right ? that's just my opinion though , what do you think ?

I agree with the fact that software sells more the hardware. But, @Radwan126 has a point that Sony needs to do something to boost the Vita's sales. I personally don't like the notion of giving up on hardware with there are still things that can be done to potentially give it a lift. I hope they try being a little more receptive to hacking. Just try it. If Sony gave it a go and it didn't work, well, there's no harm done. And on the other hand, if it did boost sales, good for them. They took the initiative to save their handheld.

I know what you mean. I too had really high hopes when they first revealed it. I honestly thought that they were gonna destroy the 3DS in sales and all that. Heck, I actually bought the Vita before I got my 3DS.

It's such a pity :(

No wonder you get hate for the shit you ask.

'Why does Sony protect their and others intellectual property? It's only hurting their system.'

That's basically what you said. Try thinking about that for a minute.

well yeah you have a point there , maybe Sony is preparing to launch something big , i heard there is going to be a very big update coming to the vita , or maybe a ps vita 3000 ? idk

By opening it up, like you were saying as a selling point, it would compromise a lot of its anti-piracy. Now a compromise like I stated before would help prevent that, but in the end you can't stop piracy. They would just have to find a nice middle ground that would give users more options without making it easier for pirates. With throttled resources, a lot of games wouldn't properly work. I guess denying access to the cartridge could help prevent dumping, but that would slow people that like backups for archival kinds of purposes, and would require a bit of work to make sure people can't access the keys for decrypting digital copies.

Maybe, though it would probably still be two or three years off at the earliest. It's also possible Sony might give up on handhelds after this generation. I doubt they will, just saying don't invest yourself in speculation. Who knows what will happen, only Sony can decide, we'll have no influence.

well yeah of course , pirates are unstoppable , they always find a way to get the games they want , read this and you will know what i mean http://wololo.net/2014/01/23/dumpin...dges-is-now-possible-the-beginning-of-piracy/ .
i don't encourage piracy , but i don't hate it either , for example : if you told someone "the vita has been hacked" , the first thing he/she is going to think of is pirated games right ? i mean who would buy a device that only runs emulators and homebrews ? most people want pirated games because they are used to the psp and we can't deny that , if there was piracy on the vita , the game developers would lose money but the vita sales would increase dramatically , just like what happened with the psp .
actually i am reading this article that Yifan lu wrote and it explains everything , give it a look : http://yifan.lu/2015/06/21/hacking-the-ps-vita/
