Silly question I couldn't find an answer for, do I need a separate microsd card from the one I use on my 3DS (with an adapter) or is it fine to use the same one and swap back and forth?

are you talking about for a DS flashcart?

if you are asking about a gateway or sky3ds. the gateway requires files on the internal sd card... and the sky3ds i am not sure if you will need to use a special format to it..

if its a DS flashcart then yes you can use it but it is not really recommended, use it as a temporary solution til you get a real card. they are cheap...
why its not reccomended to use? because the flashcarts are usually cheap made and can easily break something like the spring, and since its hard to remove only the sd card from the flashcart, its a tedius process.. each time you want to remove the sd card you will remove the flashcart too, til the plastic wears out and breaks...

personally, just copying files to the micro sd on my DSTWO is a pain, i hate the trouble of ejecting the dstwo, take out the sd card, put it on the pc, then insert both cards again on the ds... sometimes i just use the stylus to remove the card from the ds but it is still not really praticall

Yeah sorry I was talking about DS flashcarts, specifically the R4i gold. And thanks, thats exactly what I wanted to know. I won't be switching back and forth much so I'll just leave it in the flashcart for now, plan to get another later when I have a little more cash.

Thanks very much!

just like as i said, you can use the 3ds micro sd card you are currently using
you will just need to have the r4i files on it, both 3ds and r4i card files can co-exist
if you want to avoid removing the whole cards in swaps. you can use the stylus to eject it, but be carefull to don't break stuff xD

PS i forgot.. make a backup of the 3ds folder from time to time... there are rare cases of homebrew or even games corrupting the card... it's rare but can happen... better safe than sorry
