Gaming A few questions about the Wii Menu.

1. What controllers work with it besides wiimote?
2. Can I use flash drives with the Wii menu?
3. When playing a game cube game do I have to have a GC controller or no?

3. with nintendont you can use ccp or cube controller with the adapter. don't know if the gamepad works.

As far as I know, Gamepad won´t work on Wii Mode.

For Nintendont (Gamecube games), you can use ccp, controllers from PS2, PS3, PS4 or even some third party controllers, see here:

Can you use the wii menu itself with the Wii u pro controller?

Probably not, as the Wii U Pro Controller won´t work with Wii games.

If you want a way to play Wii and Gamecube games and don´t want to use a Wiimote (it was my situation), I suggest that you get a CCP. You can get one of the official Nintendo ones, a HORII one or a PDP one, they all work as CCP (need to be plugged in a Wiimote) and have different designs.

I got a HORII and, besides working with Wii and GC games, it is also great to use for Smash U.

no you have to wait until the app is active before you can use it.

you can use it in the snes9x and gensplus apps too.

So basically if I buy a PDP controller I would be able to start up and navigate the wii menu as well as play wii/gamecube games?

Yes, you need. You will plug it in Wiimote, just like a Nunchuk. CCP, HORI or PDP, all need the Wiimote.
