Also Zopenko, I noticed with your mod, I found 2 games I have tested, maybe more that don't load....Andre Agassi Tennis and Alfred Chicken....both crash and go back to loader screen. Also B.O.B. has some graphic errors at top of screen. These 3 games run perfect with the olv version Tantric made which was r721.

I can confirm this.

I found more games that do not load

Name them.

Thanks Zopenko, really good job.
But would it be possible to implement the scanlines filter and WiiU Pro controller support to this cover MOD of Snes9x GX?

The source files are included in the links below.

Snes9x GX Cover MOD
IOS 58 version
IOS 202 version

FCE Ultra GX Cover MOD
IOS 58 version
IOS 202 version

VBA GX Cover MOD
IOS 58 version
IOS 202 version

It would be really great if someone could do this.

I recommend either using the 2.3.2 version of VBAGX
Also, most of those MODs use versions of the emulators that are outdated by more than 2 years.

I compiled the 4.2.9 version with the last version the libogc to make compatible with the last wii remote (plus)
I have problems with "Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy III"
I enter the battle and you exit the emulator.
Same mistake this version
Why did this happen?
(I have not compiled to be compatible with the Wii U controller)

I prefer 4.2.9 version over 4.3.2 because it has fewer errors sound and frame rate (yoshi island for example)

Coder emu_kidid pointed out that performance loss may be tied to GCC regressions. He was going to try with older versions of GCC but maybe he's busy at RL, you should try that too to maybe find the culprit.

Great timing. I was only looking for a SNES emulator that supports a scanline filter yesterday! Thanks for this.

Would the scanline filter code port to any other emulators?
Try Retroarch, has scanline options for all systems + better Snes and GBA emulation.

Has'nt anybody tried using Retroarch Snesgx Next?, these issues have been long fixed.
All games run 60 fps with NO Frameskipping.
It would be awesome to port the snesgxnext version to this buil as I love above added features!

Question 1. Is version 4.2.9 better than 4.3.2? Why?

Question 2. in version 429 does FFIII and chrono crash?

If so I could try an merge some of the updates to 429

Answering a previous post. After this sorted out. I can add some of the changes to the "cover flow" versions.

Just not now :P

I had problems of sound clicks using 4.3.2, its related to the latency or something but its unchangeable in the main emulator,
the 4.2.8 works fine for me,
I don't see crashes in yoshi's island, only framerate drops in some stages

question 1:
Yes, 4.2.9 is superior to 4.3.2 version
4.3.2 version have problems with the audio (lag very constant) and video fps (yoshi island for example, 4.2.9 not running this game to the 100% but very near...4.3.2 very bad for this game)
question 2:
4.2.9 (original version) run FFIII and Chrono Trigger without problems
Thank you for your efforts (Y)
PD: retroarch is good, but the interface de snes9x gx is better, plus video mode of snes9x gx is more authentic to the real snes

Just set Ra to use 224p for your Snes game when playing Snen games.
using a RGB cable I get perfect scanlines and ratio with both snes gx and RA snesgx next.
RA has NO FRAMESKIPPING and runs FULL 60 fps. To me that defeats any Gui.
BUT I do like a nice gui if emulation is on par with with RA......

I tested many configs in RA and none look very fine as snes9x gx.
In addition, I noticed that RA have controls problems ( randomly control continues to move towards a direction)
Finally, yoshi island does not run at 100%, for example there fps drops in the title screen.
In snes9x 4.2.9, most of the games run without skipping frames noticeable, except yoshi island and kirby dream land 3

Hello
Here's my compilation mod for the Snes9xGx emu, credit goes for the original creators of these mods, the only thing that I did was combine them, an add a few extras, enjoy.
Really nice work, Zopenko!:yaywii:
Snes9xGX is an awesome emulator but with a crappy interface... :P
So, I really think you should also add the great Cover Mod created by Wiimpathy to your build! ;)

I recommend Snes9x Next on RetroArch Wii instead, no frameskip BS and less crashes lol :P :D Snes9x Next on Wii is far more stable and faster.

This, a thousand times, the best of both worlds. I don't know how hard it would be, but I don't see why it couldn't be done.
The thing is, WHO will do it. You need an interested and experienced developer, and his willingness to share his own free time.

Right, and compiling the code will be quite tedious, not impossible, Squarepusher/LibretroRetro might be up to it as he was the one who ported RetroArch over to the Wii, it would be nice to see it as a standalone emulator. As far as speed and stability goes, it's superior to GX in every way.

Wasn't the disadvantage of this RetroArch core, compared with Snes9xGX, that you get a bit of input lag with the Retroarch core?..

..I can deal with frame-skips myself ...but input lag? ugh.. ..I prefer not to

I never had that issue, actually, and has long been since resolved. The other issue was that Snes9x GX, in the menu, it used Hermite audio interpolation, the emulator used Gaussian, so when you entered and exited back, it would cause the infamous tinny audio glitch as reported by numerous users.

https://github.com/dborth/snes9x-gx/issues/507

I honestly never had input lag, using official controllers and again, it has been resolved a long time ago. Tinny audio and frameskip are turnoffs for me, that, and Snes9x GX crashes with code dumps a helluva lot more than RetroArch Wii does.

What I was saying is that emulation-wise, Snes9x Next is more accurate and stable than GX's code, for a variety of reasons, GUI aside, but if both GUI and Next's code can be merged, it would be the ultimate Snes emulator on Wii.
