So, to keep it short and easy to the point. I am looking for a new phone that is NOT iOS. The iPhone I have currently was given to me from a friend early this year since he went for S5. The phone has several problems, not reporting the battery usage correctly, touch is off. Now, I been thinking of going for a two year contract Samsung Galaxy S5. I am open to alternatives. I may be open to the S6 also. But anyway, I'll list some of the games I play on my handmedown iphone. I am not keen on 3D games on a phone.

-Sonic 1
-Sonic 2
-Plague Inc

Misc Apps: Skype, facebook, chrome and I do use the camera/recording a lot.

Open to suggestions. I won't get the phone til next week.

Budget? That's sort of an important factor :P

Any idea on what size you might want? The Nexus 6 is an excellent phone from what I hear, and easily one of the "best" Android experiences, but IMO phablets are kind of icky >.>

There's also the new Asus Zenphone 2, which is quite a nice piece of hardware for the price (assuming you're on a GSM network, anyways).

I can't recommend the Motorola Moto series enough.
I have the Motorola Moto G and this is one of the best price/quality phones out there.
The G sells for 200 euro, so probably less than 200 dollars or something.
Gorillaglass, very good quality screen, decent camera, good battery life, great performance and waterproof.

There's also the more expensive Moto X, with a great camera, even better cpu, etc but I still think 500 is too much money to spend on a phone that you'll probably replace for something new in 2-3 years.

I'm nearing the end of my Xperia Z phone contract and all I can say is that the Xperia Z has been a fantastic phone. There should be plenty of second hand Xperia Z but if you're looking for a new one, get a Z3.

Depends on how much you're able to afford but the oneplus one is a hell of a phone. It's around $250-300, virtually the same as the LG* and includes pretty much anything you'd want.

I really like LG though and they're one of my favorite brands so if you want something a little more popular you can't go wrong with LG.

* Virtually the same as a G3, the G4 obviously has a hexa core.

Since I got a new job, budget is enough for me to pay for a phone and netflix. Still not enough for me to live on my own. I pay $45/month and it's nearly $50 with tax and I pay for netflix. Brings it upto $55/month. I pay some rent also. I failed to mention that I am on att go phone plan. Not on a contract.

One I may consider picking up next week. Waterproof is a plus.

Z3 looks pretty nice. Like the way it looks.

Which LG would you recommend?

Well keep in mind the G3 and the G4 are both really pricey unless you purchase a contract so with that being said depending on how much you're willing to spend the new G4 ($600) is really good, where-as the G3 is slightly cheaper (around $500 or so). Honestly though you're basically just picking between a quad core, or a hexa core (6 core) cpu. I wouldn't go less than a quad, and a hexa is just a plus. There's also the LG G Flex 2($500) which is like the G4 with slightly less specs.

if you go for the moto g they're only $40 at best buy http://www.bestbuy.com/site/verizon...lack/3041063.p?id=1219086346405&skuId=3041063
it says verizon but it has a sim card slot and is unlocked
i also recommend the moto z, being fully waterproof is amazing, i've owned the z1 compact and now have the z3 compact they're actually almost the same besides the fact z3 has 4g lte.
go for the moto g if you want to spend $40 the z1 or z1 compact if you want to spend $250 and dont need lte and the z3 or z3 compact if you need lte if you do though make sure you get american there are 3 different models only one having 4g in america.

S6 hands down, unless you want a microSD card, then LGG4. Despite being a Sony fanboy myself, I am not sure if I can recommend the Z series since they seem to be more lacking software wise compared to LG and Samsung, although Xperia phones do have the more tasteful UI.

As Someone who has a previous gen Moto X, I can wholeheartedly recommend that series of phones. They have little to know bloatware, good hardware, and excellent battery life.

Camera software. Lollipop introduced RAW support and a better camera API, but Sony has yet to make good use of it. I can't say for the newer models, but for my Z1 taking a good picture requires a lot of time and tweaking in manual mode to get a decent picture, superior auto is far from superior. I'm sure the newer ones take far better pictures, but otherwise the other two are better all around. Maybe OP doesn't care about the camera all too much, but since he is considering the S6 anyways I say go for it.

OnePlus One :)
For $300 you get one of the most powerful phones on the market. It's high quality and feels nice in the hand.
Now that they got rid of the invite system, anyone can get one easily.

Already suggested it but it seems he wants a highly known brand like LG, personally I'd go with the oneplus one myself.

Eh, LG might be a well known brand, but that doesn't automatically mean they make quality phones.
OnePlus has gained a reputation as well, although they are new they have gotten pretty big.
Honestly no other phone can beat the quality and specs of the OPO, save for maybe HTC devices, they are usually pretty well made. OPO just feels like quality, you can tell by just holding it. Samsung phones feel like toys by comparison :P

OP, if you want to go down the Moto route, I'd advise holding off until Motorolance their 2015 phones. You might be able to get more bang for your buck particularly with the older phones.

There's also the LG G Flex 2($500) which is like the G4 with slightly less specs.
Technically speaking, except for the camera, the G Flex 2 is superior to the G4 (SD810>SD808)
***
The Moto G is a pretty weak phone, I wouldn't wanna game on that. Not to mention it runs on a Snapdragon 400, which is just sad for 2015.
The OPO is good but the SD801 is now dated, the OP 2 is just round the corner you might wanna wait for it...
The G4 is another interesting option, and I'd choose it over the OPO anyday.
The S6 is a dream, if you don't mind the missing sd slot.

@Sheimi Are you absolutely sure you won't entertain good chinese brands? They have some pretty good phones with amazing hardware
