Don't listen to the haters, trolls, and gateway fanboys of course someone or some team is working on newer firmwares. Do you think when 9.3 came out everyone just gave up and said "guys 9.3 is out were fucked". If you remember correctly or if you don't know the ps3 was hacked big time on 3.55 firmware then sony came out with 3.56 then 2 weeks later 3.60. A self loving hacker (he doesn't have to be named if you know ps3 hacking you know who I'm talking about) posted a useless video showing him using a jailbroken 3.60 console and saying "look what I have and you don't" but what he had at that time if released could of killed sony. It was the LV0 keys which is the reason we have 4.70CFW today and if it wasn't for bluedisk CFW they wouldn't of been released.

So to some it up "yes" there are exploits that are in newer firmwares and anybody who knows Nintendo know that they suck at fixing exploits and sometimes they end up fucking up there own system. People right now are using a CFW on 9.7/9.8 but would you want it? What if I would tell you I'll let you alpha/beta test my 9.8 CFW but it has a 5-10% boot rate and bricks your system 75% of the time would you use it? I think the answer would be yes because most people are fucking retarded and have no idea what there doing so we need smart people in the scene that know when its time to release or to never see the light of day because they want to protect you the end-user from breaking there 200 dollar Nintendo system or want to keep there hard work.

If you don't want to wait for something to come in the future just buy a sky3ds it can never be patched and you don't have to worry about messing with your system files.

There are plenty of 9.2 systems on the market for those who truly want an exploitable FW. The resale value of a 3DS is very good so those that want one can easily sell theirs and buy an exploitable one for a relatively modest premium.
It should be noted that this gets dicey when it comes to the NEW3DS. On eBay all systems that are confirmed exploitable are at least $300 and that'll just get more expensive over time. So you'll have to get lucky in the store or be lucky like me and find someone willing to sell it for cheaper (Mine was only $190 from a fellow GBAtemp user :))

Cheapest way to get almost everything you want? Get an exploitable original 3DS (not XL) for like $80 and then a Gateway card for... I dunno $50?
Well Nintendo does seem to do worst job of the 3 major game console makers IMO. You seem like your in a bad mood today reading your recent posts
I noticed that too. I think somebody needs a hug.

True, the same thing happened with confirmed 4.x consoles on eBay. The best way to go about it is take the SN list with you to the store and confidently just flat out ask to see the boxes of their stock and see what they have. Very few employees or even store managers give a crap about what you want to do with it, they just want to sell you one.

Will only work for a few more weeks though! Then it'll become nearly impossible that they'll have the kind you want in stock.

Hah I got really lucky on ebay. Dude won a 3DS from some skeeball tourney and then immediately sold it on ebay. The 3DS in question was the old 3DS XL Mario Kart 7 Bundle. Dude marked it as sealed and even took a picture of the SN on the box. For $124.99 and free shipping, I jumped on it then later read up on exploits and learned it was confirmed to be <4.5.0. It came in and it seemed to have been used (I'm assuming by the previous owner before it was given away as a prize in the tourney as the files on the SD card were dated back to 2014 lol) but only for like an hour or two at most. Was scared then checked the system menu and saw it was at 4.3.0. Was mad happy hah
