Hello everybody ! Bit of a slowpoke here, but I am having an issue with an EZ-Flash Slot-2 3in1 Expansion pack I've been using for years now in order to play GBA Roms.

I am using a fully capable DSOne SDHC and everything seems to be in order, but as soon as I launch GBA ExpLoader, the regular screen (with GBA ExpLoader [New3in1] v0.58b on top) shows "Initialize..." for a split-second, then disappears, and it remains frozen this way.

I am confident the issue doesn't come from the slot-1 card, since I have another one, and another DS to try on, and the issue remains the same. Still, I have tried several formattings of the 1Gb Micro-SD card, though, FAT16 (with 16kb, 32kb, 64kb cluster size) & FAT32 with 512kb, 4096kb so far, with still no luck. I also have re-installed the DSOne EOS, although everything else works like a charm (NDS roms etc...).
The PSRAM test runs fine and shows no error.

Aside from the 0.58b I have been using until now, I have tried GBA ExpLoader 0.57, 0.58MX, the issue remains the same. I tried launching ExpLoader through Moonshell, and this time, "Initialize..." stays on screen.

Erasing NOR didn't help a bit.

I have read about that issue in M3 users who had a patch available on rapidshare (whose services "have been closed"), but hey, I'm no M3 user anyway.

In any case, I'm all short of options there, the thing feels like it's bricked or something. The rumble function still works, though, so it looks like it's not a connector issue.

I'm one of the lucky ones who got their hands on a DSTwo, and I know people will say that GBA Roms work without any Slot-2 card, and I will reply that the good ole' Slot-2 linker is unequaled as far as gameplay accuracy goes. So even though I am theoretically able to play GBA roms, I am not happy with that option. I want it on my 3in1 linker.

Thanks everyone who took time to read it, and to those who may try & resolve my issue. If anyone needs more info, I will reply ASAP.

Oh well, finally found out on my own a way out of this. I'll drop this here in case anyone else gets the same issue. I went to EZ-Flash forums and saw some tool to test the Slot-2 device SRAM. You can get it here :

http://filetrip.net/file.php?id=9516

I then tried the "write.nds" tool, it went fast & smooth. One console reboot later, my 3in1 now works like a charm again. I have no clue how it happened, but I know how to get out of there now.

Thanks anyway GBAtemp :-)

One years past, this post still SOLVE my problem.
Thank you!

p.s. exactly the same problem, and I "waste" time to "debug" the problem just like you did.

merci ! useful tool !

edit : the write.nds and the verify.nds didn't work when i've used it for the first time so I've used an other method with the same nds files and scummvmds0-13-1-ftdigtest5.nds

1. run write.nds (if it does not work continue the process anyway)
2. run verify.nds (normally there no changes at this point ez3in1 still doesn't work)
3. run scummvmds0-13-1-ftdigtest5.nds (normally it doesn't works)
4. run write.nds (now it works)
5. run verify.nds (now it works too)
6. run scummvmds0-13-1-ftdigtest5.nds (if it's works this last step has confirmed your EZflash3in1 is reactived)
