Hardware PS Vita Blinking Orange Light Fix?

Hey I just bought a Vita online used for 80 USD but he said that the light is blinking orange and won't turn on. When I looked it up, PS said it's because it needs to sit and charge for a while. It's been charging for almost two hours and still the orange light continues to blink and won't turn on. Is there any possibility that something else could be wrong with it? How long is long enough for the battery to come back to life? The guy I bought it from said It was working two days earlier before he decided to sell it.

Two questions - are you sure that the charger is working and have you tried safe booting?

it might need a new battery
there are guides online on how to change it
or just let it change overnight and see

"never" trust what ebay seller say it might not be 100% the truth

when charging, the light should be solid orange

Try hard reset - hold down power button for over 30 seconds.

I tried hard reset and safe boot. Nothing. What are the odds its completely broken?

I dug through a slightly older topic on here where somebody was having the exact same issue, and they never found a solution. They tried replacing the battery as well as trying different charging cables and wall chargers. It never did get fixed. With that said:

- Try a different charging cable, every single piece. From the wall adapter to the USB cable.
- More drastic, but try a different battery. You should be able to find replacements online. Replacing the battery is a tiny bit of trouble, but still straightforward all in all.

Those are basically the only two solutions. If it still won't work, I'd guess some part of the inside of the system is damaged and that the seller neglected to mention a drop those two days before they decided to sell the system. If they sold it as working, get your money back. If you bought it labeled as a broken or nonworking item, unfortunately, you're stuck with a lemon.

Well I'll let it charge overnight but if nothing happens then idk what to do I am using a 3rd party charger called insignia since the guy I bought from never sent me the two chargers. Any other buttons I should be pressing to enable it to work again? I tried power + PS + R trigger. And I tried power + PS + volume up, and neither did anything...

Do you have a PS3? If you do, try plugging the vita into it and see what happens.

Vita data/charging port is known to be a little fragile also, check for bent pins.

I don't have a PS3. I did order a new official Sony charger do you think I need to order a battery too? I can't send it in for repairs because I don't have a warranty. So opening it to replace the battery shouldn't be an issue. What do you think?

Yes for a short time, and it continues to produce the blinking light. Should I leave it in all night?

Hey shouldnt the Vita work even without a battery while plugged into the AC? Im wondering if the vita battery is just screwed up and causing it not to boot. I cant even get the low battery icon to show when I attempt to turn it on. What else could be causing this to happen?

In my experience, no. If my Vita hasn't been used for a while and needs charging then I need to plug it in for a while before I can do anything at all with it. Saying that though, after 2 hours I think it should be ready to turn on.

Mine takes about 20 minutes from completely empty to be able to turn on again. That is enough time to get the minimum charge it needs to turn on and stay on, but obviously not enough to take off the charger and play. But yeah, empty battery means no turning on. I guess the charger doesn't deliver enough power alone or the system just isn't designed around it. Probably the latter to facilitate repairs down the line, although Sony screwing the pooch on the system made that strategy relatively pointless.

Yep 20 minutes sounds more like it! Looks like the OP has a fault somewhere.
