ARCADE/Classic Games for the Living Room (What should I use?)

Hey guys

So I have gaming/recording setup in my room.
My brothers have their own setup in their room.

NOW
My question is, what should I use to emulate/play classic games in the living room(for the family and I)?

I want to play games like cadillacs and dinosaurs, neo geo games etc.

I want a dedicated system for the living room

Something that can play classic games from Sega, MAME, Neo-geo etc.

I want something that supports up to 3 players and has easily replaceable controllers. Something easy to setup.

I REALLY wanted an arcade cabinet, but if anything messes up I wont be able to repair -.- I'm a retard when it comes to hardware related stuff.. and arcade cabinets would always have something to be replaced lol.

So, I am just looking into something that does the job with comfortable controllers etc.

Raspberry Pi? Wii? Old xbox? or any dedicated console for emulation?

Suggestions and help please

The best emulation device for something like that would be a PC in terms of how well it can play every thing and one with decent specs for what you want to play is relatively cheap used and certain software can male it boot up straight to the games

Check this even if you don't want a cabinet

We have 3 PC's in the house in each of the rooms.

Living room wont have any space for that lol(well I guess there is enough space.. but I really dont want another PC lol). I know I could get a small form factor one easily but I rather not get another PC.

If you do suggest a PC.. perhaps link to a cheap small form factor one?
Those tend to be more expensive compared to performance ratio.

That would be OK but it also depends on how much you want to spend on it.
Consoles we currently use for emulators pail to PC simply due to updates and limitedish support but another option would be getting a tablet for emulation as it can run a lot of what you want or even get a raspberry pi 2 (although it will probably struggle a bit on 3d arcade games)

Many tablets support multiple controllers via Bluetooth but it depends on the app. As for controllers it depends as you have many routes to go as you could go bluetooth generic (red samurai is cheap for android emu), ps3 or 360(both are very cheap used), or retro replicas. Generally for emulators you want a good d pad and enough buttons to emulate whatever you want to play.
Also what would your total budget be if it was controllers plus system?

I would say the budget excluding controllers would be about $150.
I can compromise on the controllers and get one at a time

I'm that case I'd get a mad cats mojo console as with its 2gb of ram and quad 1.8 processor it will be good and it has expanding storage via USB and SD card and one controller. Or wait for a wee bit for the nvidia shield console and pay a bit more (199usd ) for better performance.

I think have read about compatibility issues with the mad cats mojo?

That really isn't a mojo issue if anything it is the emus. But it seems to be good for emulators except maybe certain mame arcade games as the emus aren't perfect there but really its either that or try to find a cheap used pc

For fighting games(on my desktop) I just use a used Saturn pad with one of those PS2/SS/N64 adapters and it works really well, and it's a hell of a lot cheaper than buying those rare Saturn style USB pads. I use a 360 controller for other shit and while its dpad is ass, I'm used to it.

As far as Amazon goes, my rule is to never buy from anyone with a rating below 97% positive, and they need to have a decent # of reviews as well. I got lucky and got a very well maintained SS pad and it's fantastic for fighting games. Only thing better than a SS pad is an arcade stick.

Well I can say the best way for Mame emulators is probably via PC since it is quite there on android and if you want to use USB adapters a PC is the best.

This PC is very good for the money if you change your mind due to the 4 GB of ram and DVD tray is good for other media but its not mini form factor.

As for adapters, they really only work via USB and the only way you can do that on android is either built in USB or USB to go but I'm not sure support will be there as they normally are their for simple for PCs.
