This is great! Imagine how cool it will be when the Wii U is hacked and we have access to a huge library of NDS and N64 games.

I'm actually wondering how Nintendo will stagger their N64 releases. 21 N64 games were released on the Wii's VC service so I'm willing to bet it'll be 1 N64 release every month unless Nintendo works with Rareware to get more games like Banjo Kazooie/Tooie on the service.

I am still willing to bet that Nintendo will force people to pay another buck or two when the NX is released to play your already purchased VC games on it.

Hoping that smash 64 won't have frame skips like it did in wii's vc. But knowing ninty, it probably will. I'm gonna be so disappointed.

So, I first bought all these games for N64 at $60 a pop. Then for my old original Wii. Then I had to rebuy them for my Wii U 'Wii' virtual library thing. Now in order to play them from a diffierent Wii U menu, basically, I have to buy them again ... Why can't the Wii U just look and see that you already bought them, then add them to the Wii U menu so you don't have to switch to virtual Wii mode to play them? Unnecessarily confusing and ultimately rude.

In the mean time, I still have the same copy of SimCity 2000 on CD-ROM and loaded it on every computer (IBM and Mac) that I've owned since 1994.

This is another reason why PC's are gaining a foothold in the gaming sector again and consoles are losing their share.

because the wii and wiiu versions are way different. not ony do they look and play better but they added button mapping and save state option. they are 2 different versions unlike the wii version which they just quickly ported over the wiiu versions are enhanced for the wiiu their not ports.

I've heard that Donkey Kong 64 does NOT support widescreen. It seems you can change the option but the game still plays in 4:3 aspect ratio.

Can any EU user confirm this? I've only heard some reports but there's not an actual video proving the option does nothing. Regardless I tried to ask Nintendo about it but.. you know they never actually reply to things like this.

this is correct you have to switch to 4:3 full mode on your tv otherwise the game is a box in the middle of the screen and doesn't cover it fullly.

Well that sucks. I wonder if Nintendo will fix this later then? there's several N64 games with widescreen support so you'd think they'd allow the games to play in full screen.

Speaking of which I know Mario 64 plays in a 4:3 window and there's no way to stretch the image but it's perfectly playable. I'd imagine later on they'd just allow the users to stretch the screen completely (or at the very least for WS games).

Mario Kart 64 on Wii U is the 60 Hz US version for both EU and US consoles. However, the colors are duller, as they are on most Wii U VC titles. Some would argue that the Wii VC version is superior. I don't think so because of the hugely improved controller support.

it's no big deal just switch your tv to 4:3 full and you can play it just fine. dk64 runs and plays way more smoother than the 64 version ever could. they have emulated it perfectly far better than project64, 1964 or any of them other PC n64 emulators have ever attempted. and it runs in 1080p 60hz

Yeah I noticed that with Mario 64 as well. They did a great job and emulation works flawlessly. When they announced DK64 I was surprised considering it was one of the biggest games on the system and I was excited to hear the emulation was perfect.

Only 3 N64 games have been revealed so far but what I'd really like to see are the more problematic games released like Goldeneye, Star Wars and if possible Jet Force Gemini(it's doubtful but come on! you can't release DK without JFG).
