Hacking I have a 2.1.1-4E 3DS. What can I do with it?

Hello family! This is my very first thread. I've been reading here for about a year, but I never made an account because I never needed it. You're a great community, and I have a little ¨trouble¨

Just today I bought a 3DS which happened to have the version 2.1, and a friend told me that if I introduced certain game cartridges, I could give it 4.1-4.5, and so I could CFW it.

My friend sended me a list of games which I happened to not have (I just have Pokémon X and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, and a friend could give me MK7). Those games would upgrade my 3DS to 4.1-4.5, and I don't know if MK7 will do the trick.

Another friend also have Gateway, and he could provide it to me if I ask him, but I don't know if I can do anyrhing with a 2.1 3DS and a Gateway.

I also want to know how much will upgrade my 3DS the MK7, and how can I look how much will upgrade each game.

You can update it to 4.5 - there's no benefit in keeping the system on any firmware lower than that.

You can update your console with your Pokemon X the use the downgrade function to go down to 4.x. After that's done you can freely use GW, the only downside in this is that GW didn't release the latest emunand update so you're gonna be stuck on a emunand firmware that's probably bellow 9.0 for the moment.

4.X anything is fine. You can do 4.1-4.5. Doesn't have to be precisely 4.X. At that, that's just the more convenient one. Technically speaking, you can update up to 9.2 nowadays and downgrade to 4.X from there. More or less, the sweet spot is 4.X to 9.2

Mario Kart 7 has two revisions, the earlier being 2.2 and the later being 4.3.

You need to be sure not to update past 4.5 otherwise your 3DS may never be usable with the CFW. (You will not have the web browser.)

And how will I can to downgrade when I be on 6.0? I think that with GW I can get to emunand 9.6, a friend told me that he could (Maybe I misunderstood him)

It's easier to just pick up one of the many 4-1 - 4.5 games, just go to 3ds.essh.co and find a game with the appropriate firmware, pick it up and use it to update.

MK7 will update you diretcly to 4.5...

If you updated from 1.x to 2.x from the internet (a very long time ago), you could have a web browser. The spider exploits here, as well as gateway's only work with certain versions though, and I wouldn't risk being stuck with such an old one myself.

You just need any game with 4.1-4.5, then you can use rxtools to make an emunand and play higher version games/etc.

you can do hardware mod NAND backup ant have it

no one have it

then upgrade over 4.5 max 9.2 with cart game and downgrade to 4.5 then setup emunand with yours dump 2.1 and upgrade it

Hmm... A Friend have MH3, and it upgrades to 4.4. Will I can use RxTools then? Even if I don't have Web Browser?

Yes, you just need any DS flashcart to install the MSET exploit.

Ok, so I can cart update from 4.1 to 4.5. Is it gonna be any disadvantaje to update 4.1 or 4.5? Or any upgrade in the middle?
