What are y'all thoughts of the Nvidia Shield Console and Nvidia's game streaming service.

Well do you mean the shield tablet or portable?
Either way its a great gaming machine for mobile gaming and emulation. (Honestly if i could do it over again I might of got it instead of a 3ds)
The streaming service is neat but the need for a good router and nvidia GPU stinks but its still neat

Still cheaper than paying 350 for the tablet+controller that's for sure, this console and a controller is 100 dollars cheaper.

Tegra x1. It supposedly can stream triple A games in 1080 60 fps making it more powerful than and xbox 360 and xb1 according to nvidia through the grid

The Dolphin team actually are making a version that takes advantage of the K1 chip, so over time it should become more playable. So this should run even better.

Yup that's Nvidia Shield. All Shield products have run android. Did you expect anything else?

I am excited. $200 with the controller? May get this over the razer offering. Don't remember its name..

All of them? ...you mean the only one that existed before this console right?

sure it was on android ...and it was a portable device.
I expected that they would get out of the limitations of a OS meant for portable devices, such as android, when going to the route of a full fledged console. Using, who knows, another linux based OS, or even Windows 10 (since they work with Microsoft doing video cards for decades..).

But still android? ...meh

I don't see the problem with using Android as an OS. It is for sure more mature than anything Sony, Microsoft, or (LOL) Nintendo can put into their consoles.
If the hardware is good, what may the problem be?
Anyway I don't like the idea of cloud based gaming, of course if you put any PoS that can decode video and send data with little lag, and back it up with a cloud of computer servers owned by some company you may:

Say it is more powerful than... any home console (you are using a supercomputer you don't own)
Be charged for playing at any time after you bought the game
Not be able to play at all if your internet connection is not good enough
Whenever the remote computer grid disappears for some reason (company going down, etc) you are not able to play the game anymore (your console becomes a brick)

Unfortunately, that is the way it is when NVIDIA is a company that almost exclusively profits from selling hardware, not games.
So yes, that is the most probable scenario.

I'm liking the looks of this myself. For the money you are paying you get an awful lot. Your getting the ability to emulate pretty much anything and everything fro 8bit and 16 bit with all them lovely HD filters that the .EMU series has now. This should also breeze through PSP emulation also as well as perfect PS1 through EPSXE. Fully playable Dolphin and Dreamcast won't be that far out of reach of this thing either. You'll have enough power to run absolutely everything in the google play store at full 1080p and with a controller and you'll also (depending on how good it turns out to be) be able to stream games from Nvidia at 1080p/60 with minimal lag. Oh and it will probably send out 4K video without breaking sweat in all available formats. Whats not to love in this deal for $200?

For the money, this is a very powerful and versatile piece of kit!
