20 million by 2019...
Yeah but no, Wii U already sold more then 9 million.
Once the price drops on black friday etc, sales will go up again.

...After over 2 years on the market while the competition has all the momentum. You'll definitely get blips and bumps but the prospects aren't looking too good for the long run.

The Wii U looks like it'll be another Gamecube, just with worse sales numbers. It'll have a stable of decent to great Nintendo titles with a few classics, and in about 5-10 years all the kids on the Reddits will label it as "le hidden gem" of the generation and nostalgiajerk off about it. It's best if everyone just made their peace with that now.

I'm still looking at it brightly, we've got a more then 3 years to go.
It won't win the console war of this gen, nor will it top like the Wii, but 20 million by 2019, that's a bit of a low estimate.

And I'm not even defending Nintendo as well ;'D

Yes, it's a low estimate. 30-35 million sounds more accurate to me. I also expect the PS4 and the Xbox One to have a 50-50 or 60-40 split on the rest of the console gaming populace - the hardware is similar enough to allow the exclusives to shine and be the stars of the show.

Wii U library might be shitty, but it isn't the Xbox.

The difference between Wii U and Xbox/PS third party support is night and day so that alone makes the console have more quality games worth playing than the Wii U itself.

Of all 200 games or so that the Wii U has only 15 are actually something to give a damn about.

Well, if you play more than 15 games a year it means you need to go see your banker and have a reality check.

I think it's actually around 350 games total. But there are a lot more than 15 good games.

I'll start working on Nintendont U. ;)

Why would people spend as much money on a poor lenght/content game ? Addiction ? A banker would tell you to go for quality & content for the price.

Don't judge others for their taste, you're only making yourself look like an idiot.

List them.
Seriously? Fine, I'll list some off the top of my head. I've only had like 4 hours of sleep in the past 36 hours though.
  1. Bayonetta 2
  2. The Wind Waker HD
  3. Super Smash Bros
  4. Nano Assault Neo
  5. Pikmin 3
  6. Mass Effect 3 Special Edition
  7. Arkham City Armored Edition
  8. COD Black Ops 2
  9. COD Ghosts
  10. Hyrule Warriors
  11. Arkham Origins
  12. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
  13. AC 3
  14. AC 4 Black Flag (a struggle on the Wii U, but that game was so poorly coded it even lagged on a PS4)
  15. Super Mario 3D World
  16. The other Mario games that have come out, too tired to remember names
  17. That Luigi one, also too tired to remember the name
  18. Zombi U
  19. Rayman Legends
  20. Mario Kart 8
  21. Child of Light
  22. Darksiders 2
  23. Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze
  24. Wii Fit U (just kidding)
Those are just the ones I can think of right now, but there are more. I'm also not rich so I can't afford an abundance of games.

Before you point out that not all of those are exclusive, there are very few X1 and PS4 games that are exclusive, plus most of the Wii U ones have exclusive features.

Edit: I intentionally left out all the exclusives planned for this year.

Fixed. New Super Luigi U was just a slightly tougher version of New Super Mario Bros. U.

AC4 on the Wii U was a pretty damn great port but the lack of DLC/Unlockable content (not gonna spend £150 on the Buccaneer edition) shortened the replayability since I've gotten it at 96%.

How many of the games you've removed have you played? Not chiding, just curious

You just cut out tons of great games that apparently you don't like. They were very well received by the public.

Sucks to be a Wii U owner, here goes:

1. AC3 - Enjoyed it for the story mode but haven't touched it ever since
2. AC4 - Loved it. Best AC to date!
3. CoD BO2 - I miss the MW2 days.
4. Captain Toad - Decent mini-game.
5. Batman Arkham City - I still prefer Arkham Asylum.
6. Barbie Dreamhouse Party - It's a smartphone game ported to a home console.
7. Bayonetta 1 - Didn't change much in comparison to 360's version.
8. Bayonetta 2 - Short but sweet.
9. Darksiders II - Prince of Persia clone.
10. Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze - Bland platformer with forgettable music.
11. Epic Mickey 2 - Oh god no.. Fucking fuck this piece of shit game!
12. Fast & Furious: Showdown - Downright terrible and not the funny-terrible.
13. FIFA 13 - Lack of analogue triggers made the game feel different than on the 360/PS3.
14. Funky Barn - Poor man's Animal Crossing.
15. Injustice: Gods Among Us - Bleh.
16. Lego City Undercover - God damn those long loading screens but it's a great game.
17. Mario Kart 8 - Well, it's Mario Kart.
18. Monster High 13 - >_<'
19. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - Get Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate now if you've got a New 3DS.
20. NBA 2K13 - My first and last basketball game. Not really a fan of the sport.
21. Need for Speed: Most Wanted - Best console port but the framerate sometimes drops down.
22. New Super Mario Bros. U - Shame there wasn't Giant Mario and it was rather easy.
23. New Super Luigi U - Go fuck yourself Nintendo.
24. Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge - Back to the company where it began but the Wii U's version is censored.
25. Nintendo Land - Fun if you've got people to play it locally. A damn shame Nintendo didn't add online play.
26. One Piece: Unlimited World Red - My favourite One Piece game by far.
27. Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 1 - Average platformer but still kinda fun.
28. Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2 - The camera's locked and the worlds are longer but there's more variety than in Pac 1.
29. Phineas and Ferb: Quest for Cool Stuff - Okay platformer but only lasted 5hrs to 100%.
30. Rayman Legends - The Wii U's version was a headache with the GamePad and those 8bit remix stages.
31. Sniper Elite V2 - The ending sucked and no online play.
32. Sonic Racing Transformed - It was good until Mario Kart 8 came along.
33. Sonic Lost World - Really enjoyed it once I learnt the controls but there just isn't replayability.
34. Super Mario 3D World - Once all stages were completed and the bonus there was nothing else to do.
35. Super Smash Bros. - The best Smash to date.
36. Tekken Tag 2 - Playing with the Nintendo costumes gives the Wii U a real fighting game (not saying Smash isn't but you know).
37. The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Warriors - Got bored 10 minutes later after doing constantly the same thing (slashing enemies).
38. The Wonderful 101 - Great but short and underappreciated by many.
39. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist - Not as good as Chaos Theory but it's a decent stealth game. Loadings are long.
40. Watch Dogs - Avoid the Wii U version at all costs.
41. ZombiU - Tried it. Didn't like it.

I could've done more Wii U titles that I've played which are also part of Justin's list but felt that was enough.

Most Wii U games are only fun if you force yourself to playing them.

Nintendo is dying because of their stupid greed. They make their consoles underpowered because:

1. They want to make a big profit on each console sold, contrary to what the competition is doing. Contrary to what Nintendo used to do a decade ago, and contrary to the very concept of a console: A subsidized machine, with support for only licenced software.

2. They don't want competition from multiplats, in order to keep up the perceived value of their first party games. Nintendo wants their fanbase to buy mostly their first party games, and whatever they say about wanting third party support is PR and lip service. THEY DONT WANT THIRD PARTY SUPPORT. Because then their own games will face competition and will drop in value and in price...

For example, Zelda U will be mindblowing for Nintendo fans only because they never experienced games like Skyrim (or Dragon Age). If Skyrim was available on the Wii U, then the next Zelda would be just another open world game, and the fan reaction would be "meh". But since they have no other similar games to play, they will overrate this game like there is no tommorow... And Nintendo will profit...

This isn't new by the way. Nintendo is notorious for trying to use unfair advantages in order to sell their first party games and destroy third party sales. On N64 developers of Rogue Squadron said in an interview that Nintendo never released documentation for many n64 resources that they themselves used for their first party games, making them more impressive than the third party games...

And now, with the Wii U being underpowered, third parties can't properly support it because they can't create exclusives for it, it is not economical. And if a game is not exclusive, then it won't be able to properly exploit the system. While Nintendo knows their system and gets the most out of it...

If we add other greed moves like the 5 different 3DS models, when in many interviews Nintendo officials were always saying that the 3ds is fine and no redesign was necessary, and you get to know why Nintendo will become the next Neo Geo...

PS: N64 was indeed the worst Nintendo home console. There is no contest.

1. False. They have a history of making slightly to noticeably lowpowered consoles so the end user can AFFORD them. You should not have to pay $600 and up just for a piece of hardware to play games on, ESPECIALLY if you are a "casual" gamer or are in it largely for local multiplayer

2. Also false. The issue with third party support is that many third parties saw the current condition of the Wii U's sales and bailed on the console because the did not want to risk being part of a major failure.

3. As for Skyrim, Nintendo has already stated that they are hoping to make Zelda akin to it in the open-world aspect. If they did not expect at least some of their install base to recognize what the heck they're talking about because they've either played or heard of it, then why mention it.

4. Why would Nintendo release resources/assets from their own games? It's THEIR intellectual property, they have the choice as to whether or not they want it to be re-usable for other companies

5. Wut? You can create an exclusive for the Apple II in this day and age, that won't keep it from being a good game. Bad design is what makes a game bad, not the hardware it plays on. Third parties may very well have that mindset, but that's a REALLY poor excuse on their part

6. One of those models is the original, the next was in response to CONSUMER DEMAND that a model with a bigger screen come out, the next was an economy option targeted toward children that has been received pretty well (I own a 2DS myself, it's a capable machine), and the last two are refresher models with higher power. Almost every Nintendo console to date has had something similar, and I have not seen anyone calling them "greedy" because of it yet

The Wii U wont be the huge financial success that the Wii was, nor will it ever be. However, I'd argue it already has a much stronger library of fantastic games than its predecessor. If the masses can't see that, well then they miss out, too bad I guess. Wii U isn't about to put Nintendo out of business, nor is Nintendo going to be in a rush to replace the Wii U in a shorter time than the average console's lifespan. This is just what Nintendo is now (and has been for some time), I'm sure they'd love to be making the big bucks, but at the end of the day, what is most important to them is releasing quality fun games, and as long as they keep up with the quality Wii U titles we've already seen and what looks like some more amazing ones to drop in the near future, then I don't really care much about how well the system does from a financial standpoint.

Nintendo consoles -> Dreamcast
Nintendo Handheld -> Apple

Now as for Nintendo consoles I'm not saying its a bad thing but this conversation need to provide facts such as what I just stated above. Nintendo consoles are a flawed gem and that's what make them unique.
