Sorry if this is already answered somewhere, but would this set up work to install the HBC on my WiiU? (Pic insde the spoiler tag)
I'm planning to use Lego Batman to do it.
sd.jpg

I believe that's enough for the install, but it's not really gonna be enough for apps that you may install later. Maybe only one or two (which may or may not be enough for you).

Hi there. Just started using NeoGamma. So I open Homebrew channel. Click on NeoGamma. Click "Load from Disc" (or whatever) and I get this error message: DVD-R + no CIOS!

Burned disc seems fine. Any ideas on how to fix this? Bearing in mind I am a Noob!

Oh I'm using Wii 4.3E by the way.

Many thanks.

What cIOSs do you have installed? Those are required to even be able to touch games and even apps :P.

Yeah, i have some extra bigger cards. I had the doubt mostly because of the type itself.
I saw that some people had problems with the games not recognizing some type of cards and that it can't be a SDHC.
Ty for answer.

Hey guys. Can you please look up my SysCheck report cause i cant manage to run GCN games. With every loader i tried (USB Loader GX, WiiFlow, DIOS MIOS,Nintendont) nothing worked. Either black screen and freeze or just the loader restarts or takes me back to the system menu. What could be the problem? The games im trying with are SSBM and Mario Kart Double Dash. Thanks in advance to all.

Couple of random questions I have:

-what the most up to date app for loading wads is? I have Wadmanager on my homebrew channel right now. Is Multi Mod Manager better or is it older.

-is the most up to date Modmii the one thats on the google code page? 6.3.1 i believe.

-to run neek2o from the channel or from the cfg plugin do I need Bootmii/IOS installed? Right now I only have Bootmii/boot2 and it keeps getting stuck.

I can start a new thread with some more info if things are more complicated than these simple q's, thought I'd throw them up in the newb thread first since thats what I am.

Thanks.

Hi!

I have some questions about my Wii.
The last time it was used was in the 2008. I have start to use it again now in 2015. Now to my questions that I need some help.

- My Wii firmware is "Ver. 4.3.E"
- I have a chiped Wii (2007) and can not remember what a chip is it

Now to the questions:

1. What kind of a chip is this: 12f675 I/P (E3) 2yf 0709? WiiFree chip?
the E3 is in a circle.
Wii_Chip_mini.jpg

You have answered the first question and I know now what chip is it.

Whats the best thing to do:
2. Update the chip and the Wii to the latest firmware?
3. Use some other loader with the chip and the firmware that I have?
4. Remove the chip and use a loader - which one?

5. Whats you think what to do?

Thank you for your time and help.

Aha...um...I don't think I have any CIOSs installed! I just have the Homebrew Channel and then added NeoGamma. So this might be where I'm going wrong! So...what do I do next??

Thanks very much for replying, btw.

Hi,
Wanted to ask for some help with my wii. 4.3U ver. HB downloaded and some emulators. Then last week I loaded cIOS D2X 3.1 Now my wii will not connect with the wifi or it asks to update the system when I try to play Xenoblade. Really just want to restore back to before I installed cIOS. I have my back up nand files from when I downloaded Bootmii as IOS. Should I just try to use Bootmii and my nand file to undo the cIOS install? Thanks for any help in advance, I really appreciate it.

Quick question: How do you install Priiloader to a neek2o emuNAND? The same way as on sysNAND, except using the Homebrew Filter while booted on the emuNAND?

I'm not entirely sure if this is the right section but I might as well give it a shot.

I've been browsing all over for quite some time now and have found a few people claiming some sort of library that allows you to use the Wii U Pro Controller with stuff such as WiiSX and Wii64. My issue is my searches usually end up resulting in tons of broken links. When I do get a hold of something that looks promising I am given little to no direction. Responses in the topic are pretty much assuming I am some sort of veteran at this. "Put it in the usual place." does not help me. :V

Would be nice if someone could push me in the right direction and send me a direct download link to said library as well as a path to where I'm supposed to put it.

EDIT: I should also mention I am running this on the Wii U using the vWii.

Bumping my question. (It's been a little more than two weeks :V)

ok here goes.

total noob, happy to find paradise ;)
just learned about hacking my wii, want to do this so i can play GBA and SNES games... otherwise i never use my wii.

followed tutorial about Hackmii on 4.3u with homebrew and bootmii.... all good EXCEPT i didn't have wifi running on the wii before the mod because i never use wifi on it.
so now even tho i've got HBB on the HBC via SD card it can't run because its not online.... and if i try to get the wifi running i get the 11172 update prompt which straight up tells me that i will prob brick my system if i keep going.

so damn. can i completely undo my mod to get the wii going with the wifi update and then retry the mod?
or is there something i can do to save myself from this point with it already installed to get around the 11172 update?

I tried soft modding but got lost. From looking at a lot of different guides to just generally rushing it to be done and play some games, I have no idea what I did. I deleted and uninstalled everything I could and down below is a list of things I did on my first try. You don't have to read it to help me, just wanted it there. Skip to TL;DR to get to the reason I am posting. The in between is just there.

  1. Acquired LetterBomb from HackMii and installed it to root of a micro-sd card.
  2. Installed the Homebrew Channel and then BootMii in Boot2.
  3. Restarted the Wii and backed up the NAND and then moved both the BootMii folder and the two NAND files onto my PC.
  4. Downloaded and placed some emulators in the /apps folder FCE Ultra GX 3.1.0, Snes9x GX 4.1.2, VBA GX 2.0.8, Wii64 beta, 1.1 Nintendont
  5. Everything worked fine up to this point. Some problems with certain games such as Pokemon Stadium and Vigiliante 8 but other than that, all the emulators performed just fine.
  6. Installed Priiloader and turned off system settings like auto-updating.
  7. Then came time to get Wii games to run and USB Loader GX this is where I lost myself. I think I ran SysCheck162 and downloaded whatever IOSs I need through ModMii.
  8. Put the /wad folder ModMii gave me and put it on the directory of the same micro-SD.
  9. Used Multi-Mod Manager to install the IOSs and whatever else that I can't remember at this point.
  10. Downloaded a Brawl.wbfs file and saved it onto a Fat32 formatted USB drive to use with USB Loader GX.
  11. Ran USB Loader GX from Priiloader as I couldn't get it to load Homebrew Channel at launch.
  12. Said something about IOS 249 but ignored it because the /wad folder had a IOS for 249. It wouldn't even read/recognize the USB nor would it really do anything else at all.
Now, I have to say that I spent a lot of times looking up various things such as where to save exact thing as sometimes a guide wouldn't have the exact location and just "copy to SD car" or the like. Maybe if I had followed one single guide I'd have been OK but I was just so excited to get it all to work that it got the better of me.

So today, I came home and went about to erasing whatever I did and get some real help.

  1. Formatted a micro-SD to Fat32 default allocation and copied HackMii(LetterBomb) to
  2. Loaded up the LetterBomb and uninstalled both the Homebrew Channel and BootMii.
  3. Restarted the Wii and reinstalled the Homebrew Channel and tried to do the same with BootMii but it wouldn't work. Kept getting Failed (-1).
  4. Looked up online that it was just SD card issue so I formatted everything I had since I was starting fresh. It worked.
TL;DR Right now, I have the Homebrew Channel, BootMii in Boot2, and PriiLoader installed. With all the things I downloaded, installed, and/or copied on my first attempt backed up. Even the save files from N64 and GBA games. Here is picture of my backups and all the things i downloaded for my first attempt.

Some things that prevented me from trying it again. Mostly just finding about NAND emulation and wanting to know the difference.

  • If I am to try and go the same route, how can I load all apps, GC and Wii games from a 32gb USB and Nes, SNES, N64, GB/C/A from a 4gb mico-SD card?
  • How do I get the Wii to boot straight to the Homebrew Channel, never having to see the Wii System Menu unless I want to?
  • What is the point of ForwardLoader and.dol/wad files? It's to put apps on the channels section in the System Menu right? But is there any point if I boot straight to Homebrew?
  • What is NAND emulation? From my understanding it's like running Linux from a USB while having your main OS, whatever it may be still on your PC.
  • How do I go about setting it up and how does it differ from using Homebrew Channel, BootMii, PriiLoader, various emulators, installing ISOs, and all that like I've done between the micro-SD and the Wii's NAND?
  • If I do go through with it, what should I do with the Homebrew Channel, BootMii, and PriiLoader already installed? Should I uninstall all of them from the Wii? Should I restore the Nand too?
  • Can I just use a USB for everything for NAND emulation? apps, launchers, Homebrew channel, BootMii, PriiLoader, etc? Or would I still need to keep something on the Wii or SD/micro-SD?
  • Would there be any difference between using a 32gb or 64gb USB? Do I need to partition or whatever that is to either one or would they both work equally fine for simply having games or apps or for NAND emulation by quick formatting to Fat32 default allocation?
Most importantly, how do I install all the IOSs I need? When do I install them? Is d2x-cios-installer, d2x-v10-beta52, and MMM all I need? Do I need to SysCheck before or after I use d2x-cios-installer? Do I install whatever ModMii gives me before or after? I think this was the biggest confusion for me. Does it make a difference if I use ios56-5662 instead of 5661 and ios57-5919 instead of 5918 like this tutorial said?

If anyone cares to explain/help/baby me through this, I'd be very grateful. I'm sure there are others out there like me. Or not, I could just be an idiot who doesn't understand guides...

Can USB Loader GX play ISO files? Can I split ISO files > 4GB with regular splitter program like HJSplit? (because I have FAT32 formatted USB drive). How do I have to name those files? Game.iso, Game.is1, Game.is2? Thanks :) Usually I format my games to WBFS format but with one game (Metroid Other M) I have problems doing it.

Got a modded WII, and having been a hacker from WAY back (TS1000, VIC20 and Commodore 64 were easy,) I decided to hack the other wiis around the house. On my first right now, and having read up pretty well on the subject, I dove in and went to work. At this point I now have USBLoader GX installed (IOS58 (Rev 6176) Loader Rev. 1239.) I watched it all load up and run as expected. The one I bought had the usb loader on the WII menu screen, whereas mine has it on the Homebrew Channel screen, and I didn't think it made any difference. After the USBLoader update screen finished, I powered down and I inserted the flash drive I got with the original modded WII. Now when I go to the USBLoader selection screen and select a game, it boots me back to the WII menu (completely out of the Homebrew Channel and everything.) I've read through everything I can find, and have found no mention of this behavior, and I was wondering if anyone has experience with something like this and could give me an idea of what I should do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello! I'd like to ask about my VC games. I've been able to play things like gamecube ISO's and wii games, but i've not been able to play these VC games, everything looks like it's installed right and i feel as if this is going to be a simple fix, but whenever i start up one of these games i just get a blank black screen. I've looked at every other guide i can find, tried putting the video mode to "Force NTSC" but nothing seems to be working. If i could get some assistance that would be great and if you need to know anything about my wii please tell me where to find it as, obviously i'm a 'noob' and i know nearly nothing about these things. Thanks for the help in advance! :)
