That's not that what i wanted to say.
From the view as developer. You have this 3DS System with limited hardware specs. So you want to run a N64 Emulator on a 3DS. Many developer likes to do things like that, because they will get many respect etc when they share their work if they are successful

It is interesting to achieve what seems hard or impossible.
As I said,exploring the possibility.

So why do we need homebrews? Just buy a tablet.
Why do we need a game console? Just play with PC.
Lol

I don't think we really need homebrews. Homebrews are just an excuse we use because we don't want to admit we like hacked consoles for piracy...

How many homebrews are you using on your 3ds?How many have you written yourself?

On the other hand, consoles are useful for certain groups of people, plus they allow for good optimization and a standarized experience. I am primarily a PC gamer myself, but i believe we will never stop needing some form of consoles.

Actually I only play retail 3DS games on my 3DS,only use CFW &GW mode to install homebrews

As I think about it:
My smartphone runs n64 roms very slow, but psp isos at full speed.
So will a psp emu will be more likely than a n64emu on a 3ds?

No. My quad core 1.6ghz A9 android with 2 gb ram still has some problems with certain PS1 and N64 games. ARM11 phones are orders of magnitude weaker. Not happening...

You'd have a point if they didn't already get PS1 running on ARM11 phones just fine.

Videos that were easily refutable and did not feature handsets clocked at 256MHz as far as I remember, but okay. :)

I love how you resort to clockspeed as a be-all-end-all measurement, even though the 3DS SoC is a Nintendo interpretation of the Tegra 2600. Not to mention the lowest clockspeed phones ran it just fine at 332Mhz.

No, it's not. The whole Tegra thing was a rumour prior to the 3DS' release, the CPU has absolutely nothing to do with Tegra chips. Yes, I'm refering to clock speed because it's relevant when comparing two ARM11 cores which are likely to have similar performance-to-clock-cycle ratios. This is not a "megahertz myth" situation where we're comparing two very different CPU's, this is a situation where the CPU's are in the same family, so the amount of cycles per second is relevant. It didn't run it "just fine" - myself and other users mentioned several times that it was choppy even when playing the simplest of games. It's just not enough, no matter how you slice the cake. It was a chopfest at 320MHz on an average ARM11, I can't help but wonder how poor it's going to work on a slower CPU. Yes, the additional cores help if you can parallelize, but if you can't, you're buggered.

The prototype 3DS used a Tegra. The retail version used a custom SoC with an L2 cache similar to the Tegra, no matter how you slice it more cache come before higher clockspeeds in importance, even if the CPU with less cache is more powerful due to said higher clockspeeds. Non of the games lagged I don't see where you're coming from.

Cache is only going to help you with efficiency. If the CPU can't keep up with the calculations in time, there's only so much it can do. We'll see in due time though, you're free to think what you want.

Cache helps with instructions per second too. And better efficiency means faster processing power, as less mistakes are made.

In my opinion fully working Nintendo 64 emulator on 3DS is possible. But i don't think that anyone gifted enough will work on it any soon.
These days ppl are not working on their projects the same way as in the past, 15 year ago there was Nintendo 64 emulator written mainly in assembler that was able to run most compatible games at full speed with sound on my old Pentium pro 250Mhz desktop computer! Current mid-range smart-phones or hand-held gaming systems are at least 2~6x times more powerful then my old Pentium Pro was :D
http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/n64/corn.html

ps. author of that emulator released 3 versions then he was drafted into the army and probably died. at least thats rumor behind why there was no more work put into this project.

Yet, N64 emulation the PSP is still slow as molasses, Mario 64 barely runs at all.

New 3DS clock speed is still 266 MHz or so, not enough for N64 emulation really.
What? Do u remember ultrahle? I use emulator from the firts mame release... my pentium100 +voodoo2 12mb can run n64 games... same for psx a emu called bleem! And other for old apple computer can run psx games.. why 3ds cant?

Now, if only Bleem! wasn't butts lol. I used Bleem! back in the day and sorry but it was awful. The same can be said about early N64 emus - terrible glitchfests with crap framerate.

Kind of sad a cellphone is stronger than these deticated gaming devices. I hope next generation Nintendo gets their rump in gear.

These stronger phones are also far more expensive. It just doesn't look like it because you pay for it through your monthly phone bill instead of all at once.
