Due the recent Sony Hack, the gift that keeps on giving, many developments and projects by Sony Pictures have been leaked to the public. Things like Disney and Sony in talks about Spider-Man joining the MCU, the latest Bond film going over budget, and more are making rounds on the Internet. One piece that is especially of interest are e-mails between various Sony Pictures execs and Nintendo execs discussing a possible Super Mario Bros. animated film being produced by Sony Pictures.
Granted, this doesn't mean the film is a for sure thing. It currently still lacks a green-lighted script among other things. Can't say it wouldn't be interesting though. Especially with Sony of all people spearheading it.
