If we compare the Amiibos we know today and the ones from the E3 2014...
Nintendo haven't reduced their quality? The Amiibos looked really well-made...

I'm a bit conflicted about this. On the one hand, the collector in me is kicking myself for not buying the Marth because I saw several on a shelf at my local GAME store. On the other hand, the reason I never bought the Marth one is because he isn't top of my "to buy" list. All this, "OMG I NEED IT NOW" frenzy reminds me a lot of the Wii when it first released.

not news, we knew this ages ago. and secondly Nintendo haven't ruled out producing more of them later on.
they're making lots of money from the Amiibo and they're selling out really fast. (I have checked a few times and they only ever have a couple Pikachu left)
Nintendo have said somewhere that they may make more.

People worried/upset/butthurt/whatever by this must not collect any toy lines. This is pretty standard practice. If I had a dollar for every time I was trying to find a certain Transformer, and walked into a store to see about 500 Bumblebees on the shelves but nothing else, I'd be rich.

Games are no longer the only product that gets bullshots at E3.

On topic though, it's a little ironic that nintendo enforces things like region lock so importers/resellers do not make a slight profit from the transactions, but then almost all of their prints are limited so the same people who do this "job" sell their stuff for ten times the price a year down the line.

Did you read the source at all? They literally stated that some Amiibo's will not have permanent shelf life and will go away after a time, which is exactly what happened here with the 3 Amiibo's listed above.

Nintendo is just asking for someone to make a full-fledged Amiibo-emulating app.

I guess they realized the potential profit to be made after the Cubic Ninja and GameCube adapter fiascos.

One day, we'll be able to 3D print ALL the Amiibo figurines.

how are these figures produced? aren't the negatives for the pvc printing presses like upwards of 100.000$ a piece?
i mean i can totally see them not making millions of one of their obscurer characters. because they'd never sell them all. and they're certainly expensive to produce at this point in time. but i really don't see why they would not keep making more of those when they see, they're selling out.

i'm also not getting the people talking about artificial scarcity. you know that this would only make sense if they were to keep producing those amibos eventually, right? like this, its actual scarcity

This is all assuming the run will be so limited they will all be sold out and that there would be any demand for more in the first place.

It's artificial since it's planned, actual scarcity would be if the world ran out of the type of plastic the figures were made of, or if the factory burned down. Planning a very small very limited run is creating scarcity on purpose.

Fuck. Now I'm pissed off again! I really hate it when they does stupid shit like this. *grumpy-mode: on*

I mean, seriously. The amiibo figures have been available here for 12 days and are now sold out forever? That's not giving regular customers a fair chance at all, you shouldn't have to force everyone to preorder and create a hysteric demand. I'll quote the Belle and Sebastian song title: Fuck This Shit.

I emailed swedish nintendo about this my response?
Hej David!
Translation: They are not, i repeat NOT stopping with amiibo. The rumors are false.
