a nightmare for actual collectors 'D

some people actually like those easily harmed boxes. makes them all the more valuable when they're unharmed

Kudos on this project 'It rooks fantastic' -Billy Crystal
BTW, on a similar note, There is a guy with a vid on youtube, who sells REPLACEMENT cartidges for your DS games. It's just the plstic case for the chip, but he also makes available the labels too, for free with case purchase.
They come in all colors. I found them by searching replacement ds cases on youtube. They use clear, in various colors and looks awesome. I had considered re-doing my whole real-space collection of DS games that way... I'l try N get pic to post.

Here's the Vid

umdcase.com and a phone number in vid.

PS I thought I had originally seen this mentioned on this site, but can find it nowhere,if it IS here.
PPS I just found a guy on Ebay that sells thes clear game cart case but only in orange, so I suppose others willhave other colors I found it through the following search criteria:
10 X Nintendo DS CLEAR ORANGE Game Shell Mod Replacement New (DSi Lite XL Part)

It takes some work, but they look great on the shelf IMO. I did a write-up over there. Gotta update it though. Been using different materials lately...

There are no words for how awesome that is, Wiggatron... how did you actually do it??

Looks like it's done with screws and glue, but I'd like to know the details too.

Like I was saying, I did a writeup on TCP. I'm just "wiggy" over there if you wanna hunt for the thread. If not, I'll post an update ASAP. I've found better materials that are easier to use that what I had been using.

But why did the DS cases have slots for GBA games in the first place?

A couple of reasons. Recall that the original DS and DS Lite had the GBA slot. Nintendo realized at some point prior to the release of the DS that the GB/GBC/GBA games never had proper cases comparable to console cases that are easy to open and access. Also, the bigger reason was that Nintendo knew that certain DS games would take advantage of the GBA slot for other accessories (such as the rumble pack), so that games that came with a cartridge for the second slot had a place for them to be stored, the DS opera browser also required a GBA cartridge too.

Good luck on the Japanese games. The boxes for Japanese GBA games were larger than US games...more like SNES boxes, actually.
I know this is a pretty old post but still wanted to reply.

Actually the Japanese GBA boxes are quite a bit smaller than US GBA boxes. Yes, they are formatted similarly to SNES boxes, but way smaller that that.

My point was that they were wider as opposed to being shaped similarly to an NDS case, and therefore would require some tricky editing to make it all fit unless you went and obtained a fan-made English box art of the game that was sized properly.

Sorry for the slight bump, but I just started collecting GBA games and recently bought some DS cases with the GBA slot off eBay and was wondering if its possible to fit Boktai 1 & 2 in them? I assume one would have to just cut out the bottom of the GBA slot to get them to fit, but I haven't been able to find any confirmation if that would work. Can anyone help me out with an answer?

Hey there. First time posting. I got a question. I have been making custom cases for my GBA games for a while now. I was ordering cases from Nintendo but they have stopped selling the cases with the GBA slot. Any idea where I can buy the correct cases now?

Also here are some pics of my cases and my game collection as a whole.

hey, i which every new corner was like this! (you got very nice stuff)

can you show how you maked the game boy\color ones? do they fit well?

i think your best option is ebay, or buy really cheap games (i believe there are some games at $1.5 price or a bit more)
you can try to resell the games with manuals and covers, but without boxes, but this will be hard...

Thanks. Anyway to make the Game Boy/GBC ones i took an exacto knife and cut the bottom off of the GBA slot and a bit off the DS card slot to make them fit. Here is a pic.

thank you, i really thought you just cutted the bottom part (like you did), but i was curious anyway...
doesn't the gb\c cards dont fall? is it solid, or the card feels loose?

Nooo! Don't cut the GBA ones to fit GBC games! Save those for GBA games!

You can use the newer DS cases that lack the GBA slot for GBC games. I haven't done it yet, but here's some pics to show you what to do:

You basically cut the corner out of the DS slot to fit the GBC game in.
