It is a matter of preference.
For instance, I find it much more easy to have just one memcard for all my saves.
And think about each individual save, each one is 2MB while having just one is up to 16 MB.
So having 8 games with individual saves takes the space of the biggest card (16MB).

If you have more than 8 games, then you will see that the Mem Card sizes start to get bigger and bigger instead of the multi 8MB or 16MB.
I have an 8MB save file and I haven't had any issues so far with it.

Also, take into consideration that some people (like sonictopfan) have a lot of games, and it makes having one mem card a lot more accessible instead of tracking down the game's ID and extracting an individual save.

Fair enough, I haven't used Nintendont in some time, way before these feature were properly emulated, so perhaps I should try it, I just hope the games don't ask me every time to format, etc.

yeah actually if you use Multi MCemu, if you load a new game, it tells you if you want to create a save file instead of asking to formate the mem card like it does with individual saves.
I have tried loading three games which I didn't have in the Multi Mem Card and all three just said that they would create a save file, NOT format it.

Hi guys, I realize this is just a thread for nintendont.. but all the experts are here.. and ultimately i want to run nintendont ..

anyway, I am no expert on the wii homebrew scene.. or anything.. but I have some experience with the WII...

I recently used Smash Stack to install HBC on the vWii of my wii u...

Things seem rather buggy sometimes. Stuff works and if I do manage to load up a game it is fine etc. (wii game, or GC game)...

the issue is.. HBC sucks for detecting my HDD..

I need to have the HDD unplugged when i boot up the wii u.. select wii mode..

while the wii menu is displaying... i need to plug the HDD in...

then i can launch HBC and the apps on my HDD are detected...

if I have my HDD in on wii u boot.. i get the message about formating. I click cancel (havent bothered with ustealth yet, but might once i get everything working nicely) if i then boot the wii menu. then HBC. .none of the apps are detected..

also if i try backing out of HBC to Wii menu or shutdown by pressing home button while in HBC and selecting those menu options.. I get a black screen.. and the only way to receover is a hard power cycle by unplugging the cord.. (which is way diff then the 10 second power button hold on wii)...

Anyway, are things supposed to be relatively stable on vWii, like they were on WII...

Any ideas why I might be having these issues..

wiiflow seems to run ok
usbloadergx has some issue mounting or initializing my usb.. so i can get it to run but it doesnt see anything.. I am prety sure this has to do with usb port setting in config.. or the fact the custom paths all start with the path usb8.. im pretty sure changing those to usb1 or usb0 make it work.. because im pretty sure i got usbloader_gx to work before.. but its annoying why everytime i update or for other reasons usb_loader gx loses its config and doesnt properly detect the drive..

cfgloader has some issue starting up too but i havent investigated that too much... will get back with the details on that.

I didnt really mess with IOS's or much.. i just followed a guide somewhere.. it was quite simple. I did install a wad or 2 for CIOS 249 and 250 or something (i cant remember but ill see if i can find that guide i used) .. but I am not totally sure.. I dont plan on installing many wads or forwarder channels... I just wanna get it setup right so that i can use WIIFLOW, CFGLOADER, USBLOADER GX and nintendont.. similar to how i used to on my old wii..

The HDD I am using is a 1TB western digital.. and it worked flawlessly with wii..

EDIT: The guide I used was here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/full-vwii-softmod.339899/

and I did install those d2x cios.. I cant remember which one I chose --> beta52 or 53.. or alt or whatever. but it was definitely the vWii version..and I did base 249, 250, and 251 as instructed.

EDIT: I found this more up to date guide.. https://gbatemp.net/threads/simple-guide-to-install-cios-on-vwii-backup-nand-and-keys.339890/

I am reading that now.

Hmm, maybe just bad luck and yes, I need to update as well.

Uh.. dude, I never complained about it until right now, it was reported by other members though.
I was just teasing you. I thought you were the one who had mentioned, but I realize now it was ccfman2004. I was at a big party last night and I never went to sleep. I might have to call it a super-early night. I'm getting old (24), can't run on caffeine like I used to.

FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT.

After some extensive testing and troubleshooting.

The gc-adapter works only under one condition.

YOU HAVE TO START SMASH BROS FIRST.

it seems somehow when smash bros starts it initiates the controllers otherwise they don't respond and HID TEST detects the adapter but not the controller.

So basically this is how it works.

1) start smash
2) return to menu
3) start vwii
4) HID test will work and detect the controller.

This works whether the adapter is connected to the front or back.

I didn't create a controller.ini yet but the button presses are recognized.

Btw even wiiu mode won't detect the controllers being connected if you don't start smash first.

So smash is doing the initiation and somehow staying active whether in wiiu or vwii mode.

Good news and bad news.

GOOD: is that once the device is initialized you can hot swap controllers.

I started HID TEST with only one wavebird.

Connected a second on the 2 port and it detected the buttons right away.

If you notice the pictures above with the offsets. The first half is port 1 and second half is port 2.

BAD: seems can only have 2 controllers.

When controllers plugged in Port 3 and 4 the button presses make the receiver light up but HID TEST doesn't have enough offsets to show the button presses. I'm guessing a small update to HID TEST will fix this.

Keep in mind all testing done one wavebirds as I don't have wired controllers.

If you start HID TEST without starting smash first this is what you'll get.

If smash was started first this is what you should see.

FIX94 Howard JoostinOnline

if you guys would like me to try some code updates with the GC Adapter, I'm happy to oblige.

Anything I can do to help, let me know.
The next step is creating the controller.ini that works with the first controller.
Iff you PM me your email I can send you a HIDTest that will show more data but it shouldnt be needed.
At what offset does the data for the second controller start?

Hey Howard I'll be creating the ini when I get back from work tonight.

I do have a comment and a question.

If you notice in my second pic the answer to your question is there.

Notice the offsets.

The first one reads 21,that one never changes no matter what I push.

The second offset starts at 4 (you'll notice in the pic it says 26) but you'll also notice 04 is at 2 different offsets as well.

The interesting thing is that this offset defines the start of the next controller.

Meaning if I have a controller in Port 1,it starts at 04 the moment I push a button regardless of which one it is, it'll switch to 26 and stays as such same with all the other 04.

Based on that you can determine where the next controller offset starts.

I don't know if it made sense. Let me know if a clearer explanation is required.

For the question, does nintendont require an update to support more offsets so that all 4 controllers work?

Wait, we..what?? Well, any progress is good progress :P My only fear is the adapter will be very hard to get since it's selling like wildfire.

The 04 is some sort of status. does it go back to 04 if you unplug the controller?
Nintendont will need an update to support more than the first controller.

It's alright, anyway I tested the update and the text position is just right, of course that's said I reverted back to 2.219 because it still gives me that flicker followed by black screen in Sonic Adventure Alpha.

Wow, glad to see that the GC adapter is already being worked on and apparently it is compatible. :)
Only thing remaining would be to find a way to make the adapter work without having to start Smash first, right?
