Nintendo has poor online experience compare to others. They really need to pay more attention to its online operation.

I wonder if this year holiday season will be like the last time, where server literally crashed for a few days because it couldn't handle increased traffic.

Would you rather they have no online services at all?

Nintendo's still too green on its online services and they're already going for it? Oh shit I'm guessing that during early time of Smash bein' out it'll be somewhat of a mess, not only for those pre-downloading but also playing it online.

No, Nintendo! Bad, Nintendo! You don't do this, Nintendo!

This really was what their shitty online service needed.. to overload and break down.

Having a service > no service at all, but then again, people are always going to find fault when they at least try to get better :creep: #Classytemp

This is a pretty huge step Nintendo's taking and instead of this they should be making sure that their online gaming service/servers are stable which are far more important, especially with the release of Smash for Wii U.

It's strange how local multiplayer on Smash 3DS has lag (people who played it have said this).

Well, it is wireless, and WiFi is by no means as stable as Ethernet; that's to be expected. With Ethernet, stability would be much better, but on the 3DS, there's no way to use it.

When did I suggest that? I'm saying they need to put more efforts into their online aspect.

Last year they had to use rotating schedule (NoJ gets access for a couple hours, then NoA, etc) to relief server load. Not to mention it happened during holiday season. Imagine how many potential sales it turned away because of that.

While Steam, PSN, and Xbox Live do slow down during holiday season too, everyone still gets access and it only lasts couple hours, not days eShop had shown.

Well, I mean, I dunno what I was thinking, some people just well, yeah. They do need to get better I admit, but that takes time.

Takes time, I agree. I just find it ridiculous given that Microsoft and Sony had already have a working online service in place several years before Wii U. Nintendo has plenty of time to observe. Nintendo has a lot of cash reserve on hand and they are not investing enough to improve online service.

This is just the worst argument. It's like going to restaurant and being served a piece of mediocre shit and being told "Would you rather starve?"

Nintendo is a luxury maker. They make luxuries. You're paying them with your free money for enjoyment. When they're subpar and below standards, they should be held accountable for it, as should everybody involved in video games. When you start accepting mediocrity as "it's better than nothing" then mediocrity persists.

Guild's right.

Nintendo should be making sure that the (remaining) third party companies releasing games for the Wii U get the DLC to it too, like I don't know.. Watch Dogs (it's going to flop either way).

I'm just curious if you could preload a game and play it before time with a gateway.

funny thing is that Nintendo already have an account system in the WÜ. you turn on the system and you select an account to play.
if you want to make Nintendo understand what you want first get your ideas straight. what all of you are referring to is untied accounts, accounts that can authorize systems to play your content and not the other way around like now, systems giving accounts permission to play games.
I don't know how Microsoft handles content but Sony can authorize up to 2 systems to play content and you can deauthorize all the systems remotely, this is useful if you have a dead system unable to turn on or connect to inet/psn. that is what Nintendo needs to do, they could give you only 1 activation(as now) but with the ability to deactivate the system from the internet if the worse happens, of course all by yourself without calling them.

You have to actually call Sony if you want to deactivate a system without having access to it apparently, and that'll automatically deactivate all your systems.

Wasn't that because of Pokebank? It used some shitty method to connect to the server which massively increased server load for no real reason.

nope, I have used the deactivation 2 times. one in my account to deactivate a PS3 I left my account connected and the other time was a friend account to deactivate his YLoD'd PS3 fat.
just need to go to SEN page and go to the activated systems section, there is a button to deactivate your systems there.

I don't know how Microsoft handles content

Unless they've changed it (I don't think they have), Microsofts system is, it's tied to the 1st console that downloads it + the gamertag.

So 1st console you download it on, content can be used offline and for all users. Other consoles, you need to be signed into your account and online. License for offline use can be transferred between consoles, by the user.

So a nice enough system as well. Nintendo are the only ones with the stupid, tied to account, which is tied to the console with no option for the user to manage it themself.

Not anymore. If you don't have access to the PS3, you have to deactivate all of your activated systems.

I was referring to this:

but yeah, you need to deactivate all or manually from the device itself. at least you can deactivate devices remotely, that's better than losing everything like Nintendo.
