Just this second finished watching the whole direct and boy, it looks AWESOME!!

Day 1 purchase for sure but there was so much revealed that im going to have a blast playing and as many of you have said, the stage builder looks awesome but im really impressed with the screenshot design ability, thats having a whole paint game!! i am hyped out of my mind for this game!

Pretty easy. Think multiman melee. 8 players at once, except now it is not AI.
They were already capable in the melee and brawl days


But still, that takes some substantial CPU resources to have eight independently controlled humans players at once on the same screen.

I highly doubt 8 players. But 1080P and 60 fps is required in fast action platforming/fighting game :D

If that turns true, ... Man, That would be awesome!

No... Brawl's engine was capable of it. PhantomWings (SSBB Wii hacker who started Brawl Texture Modding, BrawlEx [Expanding Brawl's Roster to have 100 character max], and more) proved it back in the active Brawl scene. There were tests with 6 and 7 man brawls.

Of course they tweaked it and made it nice and perfect, but it the real issue was coding controller support.
I suspect 4 3DS players and 4 Wii U players

Oh right, yeah, I remember that, but still, but keep in mind that was being rendered at 480p or 720 x 480 max on the Wii. On the Wii U, 60 fps, 1920 x 1080, which again, require a copious amount of CPU and GPU power to render that many objects on screen. This is the first truly 1080-rendered game at 60 fps, I think, for the Wii U.

    Thats true, personally I don't play it online at all, in fact, I deleted all wifi details on it once I installed CFW, so it won't connect and auto-update itself
