GCN Xeno GC? Wiikey SD? What else do I need to mod my GC?

I've spent several hours researching what I need, and it comes down to making a post here because I just can't figure it out, haha.

I know that a Xeno GC will let me run burned DVD-R mini backups, and I know how to install it and where to buy it. I just ordered a Wiikey SD adaptor off of DealExtreme, which is a simple SD to Memory Card adapter. If I install the Xeno GC, will it enable me to boot a disc to run backups/homebrew/emulators off of an SD card via the Wiikey SD adaptor?

If yes, what do I need to burn to a mini DVD-R, and what do I need to be on the SD card?

If no, what else would I need to do? Is there a better way to go about playing backups/homebrew/emulators off of an SD card?

Very true, and I already own the GC screen! But I'd need the questions that are the purpose of this thread answered before I could do that
