Would be nice if YOU had a life.., wait maybe not...

Sick burn bro.

SICK.

BURN.

Didn't know generations were defined by graphics

*Looks up definition of generation*

Nope, don't see it defined as a step in graphics but a set interval of time.

So you're arguing semantics in an effort to avoid the fact that you're supporting outdated technology that would have fit almost ten years ago?

Nintendrones at their finest.

It is a bad thing.

It's last gen.

This is the current gen.

You're getting handed mediocre, outdated technology and going "I'm okay with this!" You shouldn't accept mediocrity, when you do then it persists.

YOU will never be fast enough to keep up with technonogy, it's a game of supply and demand.
It will be released if sales drop.
You should know that by now, after the 4th playstation. or are you one of those " tech Lemmings"?
Hope not.
There's always something "better". "better" is a matter of personal perception.

I think we should slowly back away from here and leave the thread to do its own thing, more fun that way ;)

Well duh, that's the whole point of this thread and that's the whole point of my post, surely, it's much more fun this way, is it not? :P Being a Nintendrone is what I was born to do XD.

And the sales are dropping.

So... what's your point?

It means the devs are "shoving"the next batch of "the cheapest tech they can shove" to the masses.
YOU will probably buy it right away, thinking it the "best".
At least some companies are more open to the masses, by not overkilling them with term like "UHD, Next Gen etc" when it's clearly not.
There's ALWAYS something better around the corner. And it most often has nothing to do with underlying technology. It's more about originality or being different ( at least in the beginning )
It;s never about following the leader, because that's hardly ever innovating.
But, I shouldnt have to explain this to you, or should I?
Weren't you a reporter yourself a while back.....?
Next gen is a term made up by companies struggling to survive.
Remember the HD era? when you tell someone thatyou just bought a 2 megapixel camera, you probably get laughed at nowadays...In reality your HD tv is also "just" 2 megapixel , yet nobody complains when they are viewing Blu ray movies from their PS3/ PS4. 2 megapixel is NEVER mentioned
I theory is VERY last gen , to stay in "your" terms.
See what I mean?
Next time think about this when you are enjoying your "next gen console" on your "before last gen" HD/UHD tv.

If I had to pick one myself I'd say the bottom one looks better, but eh. The repeated texture on the left of the track is a bit ridiculous though. Then again the Halo screenshot is taken from much closer to the ground, so it'll probably look much better in a higher up shot like the bottom one.

It's not worth continuing in trying to prove our point to him, counteracting his arguments, or making him change his mind, and is hellbent on calling anyone who dares defend Nintendo a Nintendrone, so, for now, let's leave it as is. Besides, it's vain trying to convince him otherwise.

I can't tell if it's funnier watching them struggle for defense by launching all out poison words at guild that have nothing to do with even defending their arguments, or watching them literally calling themselves biased fans that can do nothing more but kiss nintedohs toes

I wonder though, does he label those who like Nintendo or defend them as a crime? I'm curious to know his thoughts regarding the matter. Clearly, it seems claiming to be a fan is also frowned upon, right?

You know we do have dark theme.

Meh, don't care. I don't use that theme, too dark lol.

Dude the PS4 is like $100 more than the Wii U. It's not an arm and a leg for a luxury product. You're acting like they're charging that 599 dollaridoos like last generation. If you made this argument like ten years ago I might agree. Nowadays, where the gap is really not that much, you're just making mountains out of mole hills.

And I don't buy it right away. The most definitively "next gen" thing I own is a Vita. I don't have a PS4. I don't have a XB1. I don't have a Wii U.

There is better stuff around the corner, it's much more apparent with phones for example, but that's not an excuse to release old tech. Old tech is outdated on release, at least the latest tech won't be outdated immediately.

What does being a reporter have to do with this? Reporters post news. That's it.

It's really strange seeing people argue technical superiority of consoles. I was pretty disappointed when I saw the tech specs for the "powerhouse" that is the PS4. The machine was already outdated before it was unveiled, and I've built more powerful computers for cheaper.

I'm not saying it's crap, but when a company says "10 times more powerful than...", I actually would like to see them strive for it, and make a new hardware chip like they used to, as opposed to giving me something I could literally build myself, without any special knowledge.

Either way, we have consoles that have games. Understandably, the Wii U is doing poorly, because the name of the console is confusing. I don't expect the New 3DS (truly a poor naming choice) to fare much better.

I would like to see a PC build that performs about as well as a PS4 for under $399. Last time I checked on Newegg, you have to spend at least $500 to jump over the threshold and Ars Technica agrees, although I can't be arsed to find the article in question. Remember that consoles benefit from short API's and suffer from less OS-related bottlenecks - a PC made out of equivalent components will perform worse, you need to spend extra to give the hardware some wiggle room.

The New X name worked for Apple. Also the problem with a new custom hardware chip is that it's much more of a hassle for developers to deal with.

But can a stillbirth really even be considered part of a generation?

While this discussion is going into interesting directions, comparing Apple's marketing innovation and design to Nintendo is like trying to compare the fire power of a pea shooter to a hydrogen bomb. Apple can get away with the "new X" since they push the devices to the market very differently to other companies. They also sell products with wider audiences than dedicated gaming consoles. And everyone expects a new iPhone every year compared to a console.

Never underestimate the power of marketing. Apple succeeds in it superbly. Pretty much everyone else is mad jelly for the push and pull they can do multiple times a year for the iPhone, iPad and co. :)
