Why did you say that? What is a gumball?

SMASH BROTHERS, ANOTHER GATEWAY EXCLUSIVE (NOTE: We are using Gateway OMEGA 2.3b Launcher.dat with emunand 8.1, and a SD card larger than 2GB)

Why they are using a +2gb SD Card? I just have a 2gb card...

They're hard candies made of gum that costs 25 to 50 cents.

Well, is there no way of enabling them, sans playing a real game cart? There is absolutely no flashcart of hack that makes it possible?

Once the firmware has been placed on the Gateway microSD in the slot, is it possible to store and run the ROMs off the larger SD card slot on the side?

Also this is indeed a good site and price to buy at? Thanks
No flashcarts work on the 2DS, as they are all above v4.5.
well NDS flashcards work on the 2DS like the one linked....but just be aware they will only play original DS games not 3DS, the ones that play 3DS games only work on 4.x so there are none compatible with the 2DS

I have a question. Has anyone ever reported being banned for having the same header as at least someone else?

I'm curious because the recent Smash bros upload left the header on, so people that can go online with it(if they have a japanese 3DS due to the online eshop update) will all have the same header if they dont feel the need to change it.

I believe it's a precaution but has any incident taken place where people were banned by Nintendo due to the headers? Thanks.

1. the only person i have heard of being banned was banned for credit card fraud......not heard of anyone being banned for even using the widespread public header, the whole "personal headers" is just a precaution, that people assume would help them avoid a theoretical ban....although nobody knows what the real criteria for a ban would be anyway.......there are other things they could potentially check which could lead to bans regardless of if you used public headers or not

i think the best policy would be use private headers if you can.....but don't think it would make you invincible

I have got a question:
Games that require update to play online, how am I going to get that update off from eshop when using gateway? Isnt the firmware gonna be update?
I want to know that for both retail and backup.
(must have been answered a million times, but gosh the 3DS hacking section is confusing to me as I stayed away from all that)

With emuNAND you can update the firmware to the latest currently available. emuNAND is different to the SysNAND however; thus stays on 4.x.

got it! Means, roms/games from different region that requires eshop update cannot be played online.
Damn.... I wasn't gonna pirate, I would have liked to be able to play Japanese and US game carts online -.-

Hi there,
I have a question/problem. Am I able to downgrade the latest firmware (8.1) back to 4.4 from my nand backup (internal 3DS sd card)?
I originally had my 3DS XL on GW4.4 and did a nand back up (saved it to my pc as well) and then I did a 'format emunand'. After that I went to 'boot gateway mode'. I went on e-shop to do an update but now my 3DS is on the official latest firmware.
I tried to use my blue gateway 3ds card but it does the 'an error has occurred'.

if you have your original nand dump, you can downgrade but it requires soldering to the motherboard, have a little search for "3DS nand mod" on here

what mirco sd card would you suggest to get for adding games and stuff?
depends on how much stuff you want to add....i use a 32GB card and thats more than enough for me, but some people want loads of games on the card at all times, basically work out how many games you want on at any given time and work out rough sizes......so they average out at between 512MB-2GB for most games, then when you take into consideration trimming card 1 games some games can end up being nearly half the size of the normal rom size

basically it depends on how many games you want on it at any given time

I have a question:

Why scene dumps don't have an header?
Why only personnal dumps have?
because scene releases are considered "clean", the header info isnt actually part of the rom normally, the gateway dumper strips the header from the chip and injects it into the rom file so it can use the information to connect online.........so really the dumps with header info are technically bad dumps

also if nintendo ever does block shared header data the uploader could potentially be blocking their own cart so a bunch of random people can use their header

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    nvm it does support mine

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card
