Well, the new update is relased, but I want to ask something, did this update fix the 59fps bug? I didn't notice the 59fps frame drop, but Digital Foundry does:
Mario Kart 8 continually drops down to 59fps. This may not seem like a big deal - most will probably not notice it at all, and it has zero affect on playability - but it has a noticeable impact on image fluidity that mars what would otherwise be a perfectly consistent frame-rate. And for us at least, once it is seen, it can't really be unseen.
So that's what I'm wondering, anyway to find how it's the framerate right now?

i agree who the fuck can see 1 fps difference?? :rofl2:
The issue is not the 1FPS, but that it's out of sync with the TV refresh rate, causing an extremely short stutter once a second. That said I've played MK8 at a friends place and even knowing about the issue I was unable to notice it.

Really? Seriously? That's not even worth a fucking notice, let alone a patch.
Getting that bet out of space from on 1fps drop is just nitpicking and stupid. Just enjoy the game instead of griping over 1fps drop, that's not going to make a difference in the game.

It's easy to notice if game runs 60 FPS instead of 144 FPS on 144Hz monitor, it wouldn't surprise me if someone did notice that missing frame every second. However even I'm unable to see that stuttering with the game. It may also be like Bladexdsl said that really good TV smooths that frame out even in game mode.
Unless DigitalFoundry makes another benchmark I don't think there are many people willing to find out wether it was fixed. Recording in 60 FPS and calculating duplicate frames sounds boring without professional equipment.

panasonic viera :P

Plasma TV master race

Nintendo can. They cut the 1 fps out on purpose to resell as dlc in the future. :tpi:

Isn't Nintendo one of only big companies which hasn't been cutting content from games to sell as DLC?

The stutter does not occur in single player modes, but only when there are CPU players or online, it could so easily be solved, but so far, it hasn't. Online however, seems more stable, but that could have to do with the LAN adapter I use.

Never assume things like that unless you programmed it yourself... and even then things can turn out to be a lot more difficult than you may have thought.

The higher the native framerate the easier it is to notice dips - it's a known fact. 1 FPS is still marginal and barely noticable, but it's there and the stutter depends on how the TV handles the "problem". ;)

On the TV my roommates have, I notice it oddly enough (must be a curse) online and on the GP modes, but never on single player or when playing locally.

Yeah the micro stutter in mario kart is a bit annoying. Its been a problem for a few games in the past and never gotten "solved". I remember quake 4 on the 360 suffered from it. Like others have said, its not a "framerate drop" per se, more a slight issue with Vsync. Odd that an issue like that got through though to be honest, Nintendo are normally meticulous with QC when it comes to their own franchises.

That's... debatable.
