Hey guys. So, I've got a problem with my R4 cards. I have two of them, one is an R4i Gold Plus for 3DS/DSi/LL/DSL/DS card from r4ids.com and the other is an R4i 3DS card (N3DS/NDSi XL/NDSi/NDSL/NDS) from R4i-sdhc.com . Neither of them will load on any of my hardware. I have a DSL, a DSi, and a 3DS XL, but every time I try to load one of them, I get a black screen that says "An error has occurred. Please hold the POWER button to turn the power off. Please refer to the Operations Manual for more information". I tried going to www.r4ids.com, but it seems the website is no longer active. And I went to www.r4i-sdhc.com and downloaded the most recent update for the firmware, but still nothing seems to be working. I'm hoping that maybe someone here can give me some advice? Thanks in advance!

Pics related: They're the cards I have.

So nobody has any answers? Am I just going to have to go get newcards or something? And if so, would I be able to transfer my save files from my current cards to my new ones?

Tried transferring all it's SD Micro card content to different card and then try again? If still on all 3 handhelds didn't work, then it's probably been damaged. Thus buy new one. The way you handled/store them might have caused the damage.

And yes, transferring those .NDS and .sav files to another SD card won't cause any problem as long as both files aren't corrupted.

Could it possibly have anything to do with the firmware on my systems? Because I haven't been able to find any updates for any of my cards, since apparently r4ids.com no longer exists or something.

Okay, so, update: I found that the R4i 3DS from www.r4i-sdhc.com works on my DS Lite, but not on my DSi. My DSi is Ver. 1.4.5U. I've downloaded and installed the latest firmware to the the card, but it won't work on my DSi or my 3DSXL. Any ideas?

Both cart should have at least work on the NDSL (given it's not a problem with the SD Micro or the cart's pcb) since this console run a single firmware and doesn't block use of any cartridge no matter what version that cart might be running. If either one doesn't (given that both are using the correct firmware/kernel meant for it respectively) work on the older NDS console, then don't quite expect it will work on those newer consoles as it's probably damaged beyond repair. Since you now mention your R4i 3DS works on the NDSL, go check with the cart's website if it has upgrade to run on DSi v.1.4.5 as well as how high it does supports the 3DS firmware. If there's upgrade for it to work on those newer console's firmware, you should perform the upgrading procedure on the NDSL not the NDSi and especially not on the 3DS XL. If there isn't any that reach your 2 newer console's firmware version, your next option is to purchase newer cart that does support latest 3DS firmware as then it will certainly work on all 3 consoles. But again, you'd need to do the initial installation on the NDSL, not on those newer consoles.

Well, I figured out that the R4i Gold Plus card is broken, and the R4i 3DS card from "r4i-sdhc.com" is a fake. :( Now I guess I need to get a new one. Any suggestions on which card, and maybe a place I could buy one from?

The Supercard DSTWO is pretty much the best cart out there right now, it's the only one that has never needed more than an update to work on any DS console (including 2/3DS). Unfortunately its a little pricy at $35-$40.

Where to buy it, nds-card.com is a well trusted site, never had a problem buying from them.

Sorry if I'm digging up an old thread but I am having the same issue with my r4isdhc card. I load it up with wood-162 and put it in my dsi xl 1.4.5 and all I get is a white screen. But when I use my ds lite it works perfectly fine. Loads roms and let's me play without a problem.

Any ideas or was there a fix to the earlier problem that I could follow?

Trying to avoid having to spend even more money out of pocket for a new flashcart.
