Earthbound inspired RPG Citizens of Earth was originally launched on Kickstarter back in 2013 but failed to reach it's $100,000 goal. Since then ATLUS has picked up the game and here we have the latest trailer as well as some new screen shots.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlus - post mentions atlus not atlus usa.

Anyway, my point is they pretty much skipped whole generation.. I mean sure p5 will be released on ps3.. at the ends of it's life... Meanwhile they made a 2d fighter and perverted qbert clone... that resulted in them being owned by company who used to make consoles, now barely ever releases any good games and is owned by pachinko machine creator.. it's just damn sad how a company with such a great franchise have fallen.

Atlus always make the new persona games at the end of the console's lifespan. 3 and 4 were released in 07 and 08 which was quite a while after the ps3 had been out

That'd be idiotic if they actually did wait for the end of a console lifespan, also this generation had a prolonged lifespan p4 was released 6 years ago, more than enough time to make another game, meanwhile they've been screwing around ;/

Why? many good games come out very late in the life of a console, so they can take out all of the juice. Just look at Shadow of the Colossus or Persona 3-4. The last of US is another example.

They should make proper persona game already... no wonder they ended up getting bought by sega..

Did ya play all the Persona games? not just 3 and 4? I rather wait for a reasonable sequel than a just a cash in game.
Plus Persona 5 has been already announced.

Tried 1 and 2, unfortunately the mechanics were too damn different for me to get hooked up for longer.
Reasonable sequel ? you call persona 4 arena reasonable sequel ? or maybe catherine ?

The fact is they prolly didn't even work on persona for quite a while. Let's be honest there's been lesser gap between elder scrolls games and the amount of work required can't be compared. If you're gonna go about story, mood etc i can give you another example - mass effect, witcher, and so on.

gr8 b8 m8 i r8 it an 8/8 can't w8 to exaserb8 this thread.

Just shut up already, no one cares.

ANYWAY this game looks kinda poopy, I mean I don't care much for Earthbound but that art style doesn't hold a candle to actual Earthbound. Looks like a cheap iOS game.

better sega then Nintendo, Sony or Mircosoft.
hell if Microsoft had bought them they would have probably made ATLUS make Avatar pants(like RARE does now) or something like that

actually acquisition by sony would imo be pretty damn good for them, same if ms was interested in them because of their games. However i'm guessing they're too low profile for both of those companies.. still it could be worse, like you said it could be nintendo.
