I had around 5k points lying around and decided to order this because there really wasn't anything more interesting and I love this game's score so it was perfect.

Can't wait to receive it. Says it'll take up to 4 weeks but I hope it gets here quickly.

Nintendo has announced that the Super Mario 3D World soundtrack is now available as one of the Club Nintendo rewards for Europe. If you played the game and found yourself enjoying the music, you can pick up the soundtrack for a whopping 3000 stars. It’s one of the most expensive items on Club Nintendo both for North America and Europe, but it contains 77 tracks in a two disc collection. There’s no telling if this soundtrack collection will eventually become available on the North American Club Nintendo page, since the rewards are usually kept pretty separate.

Well not to worry, since I'll own one of these bad boys it'll always remain in pristine condition as the rest of the games/media I own.

They still make CDs? What is this, the Dark Ages?

Would you rather listen to a song in its lossless form or compressed format? If you're the type of person that doesn't value quality then you'd be just fine with an mp3 file.

Let's take Evangelion's Cruel Angel's Thesis (4:04) from Addition, ripped to FLAC in 7.1 Theatre Mode is 111MB's and converting it to MP3 320Kbps turns to.. 9.31MBs.

The difference in audio quality is of night and day. Of course for non-audiophiles they probably can't tell the difference and just be happy with a shitty MP3 version of it.

Or for anyone with a non-1000$ audio setup.

You don't need to spend that much if you know what kind of equipment you're buying specifically.

That's the same excuse people use for PCs Vs. Consoles "a PC costs $1000 and a console is $300".

At least they upgraded from tape recorders. ;)

EDIT: @Wiicube: I'm kind of curious...is a streaming radio station (e.g. radio nintendo) also something beneath what a true audiophile would prefer?
(note: I'm not trying to sound offensive...I just don't get the appeal of a soundtrack of a game on a CD).

Sure there is a difference. Only problem is if you lack the equipment required to enjoy a lossless format. FLAC vs. MP3 is a whole different matter.. If someone is happy with what he has, why not let him be happy. Not everyone is loaded to spend a few $1000 on speakers.
