Hello everyone!

As with Gateway online gaming seems not to be possible up to today. I thought about creating an application to forward the 3DS Wlan packages (Streetpass) over the Internet to another - dedicated computer - like Voice over IP.

I'm aware that there is a so called "Homepass" or Streetpass Relay (which I'm using for SP hits in sleep mode). But this is not what I'd like to achieve - it should be like online playing - emulating the second party via a free Wlan adapter.

My Questions now:
- Does anyone know if there have been attempts on this?
- Are there any known documentations on how 3DS Streetpass behaves on layer 1 & 2?

I'll try to look into it myself, but if anyone has any relevant information about this, please let me know.
I'll keep you updated on the project - although right now it is an idea - I don't know yet if this is really doable.

Best wishes,
Gildoniel

I think you mean for local play and download play, streetpass is just the little mini games and stuff like that, not actual multiplayer

But idk tbh. I have only seen the streetpass relay stuff

So... hamachi for 3ds?
I didn't know know hamachi - just had a look at the website. In a way yes and no: "Hamachi" for 3DS Streetpass - although it is only ptp and not about virtual networks.

The idea is to capture all the Streetpass "wlan-traffic" (regardless of standard conformity) from one 3DS console (identified by mac) and to forward the packages over the Internet and send them out "as they were" on the "other side". In short some sort of tunneling. This will most likely require an internet connection + a dedicated wlan adapter.

Yes - "local play" over the internet.
There are quite a number of games, where you can do many things locally, that you could also do over SpotPass.
And I wrote One - One tunneling, but if this works, it could also tunnel more than just one (if local multiplayer modes exist) would be more complex but doable if 1 to 1 works.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.

Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though

@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.

@Maximumbeans, I had a friend who had a glass chess set for their birthday.

It was like all clear and fancy. Tbf I'm not too experienced with chess, but would like to learn someday.

    That sounds really cool
