Hacking Wii <-> vWii (Wii U) Downloaded Title - Is there a way to play on both?

Before transferring all my Wii data and downloaded games to my Wii U, used an app to save a restore point (bootmii I think) so that once I transferred all my legally downloaded games to my Wii U, I could simply do a system restore and get them all back on my Wii as well - essentially having them available to play on two consoles.

On paper there really is nothing wrong with me doing this - even though Nintendo might beg to differ. I DID purchase the titles and I'm not selling the console to anyone... probably ever. If I ever did I don't think I'd simply give them free games just because copies of mine exist on the memory. Thats beside the point though... I have the Wii U in my living room, and my Wii in my bedroom. Before making the transfer I made sure to purchase ALL games and software from the Wii shop channel that was still on my wish list so that I wouldn't ever have to shop in the digital store again and would never have to resort to asking this stuff.

Unfortunately 2 things are wrong with this.

1.) last year I downloaded a free copy of the original Smash Brothers (N64) as a virtual console title onto my Wii U. It was a Platinum Member reward from Club Nintendo and nothing else they were offering appealed to me. As of this writing, the game still only exists on my Wii U and attempting to play it on my Wii (transferring it via SD card) is not allowed. I'd like to have it so that at the very least I can freely move the game between consoles and play on either one. If this isn't possible, its not that big a deal since the game wasn't a big deal to me anyway.

2.) I've just found another title that I'd prefer to download on a Nintendo console legally from the shop channel but its only available on the Wii Shop (not eShop). I'd love to have this on both my Wii and Wii U once purchased but I'm positive this same issue will arise... having this ability for this game is much more important to me than the former.

(fyi the game I want is Retro City Rampage)

I'll be happy to throw down the money to buy it, but I would first like a means to copy it or make it able to play on both of my consoles. If I can't do this, I will probably end up downloading it onto one of my other systems or handhelds ... under protest of course.

What apps/instructions can I look to (if any exist) to make this a reality?

Uh. The easiest option is probably to hack the Wii and just install WADs of the games you want on it.

And how do I go about that? My wii is indeed hacked. I've used MMM to help me install wad forwarders (that send me to various emulators from the main menu) but I've never installed any wads that actually have any kind of girthy data on them... just shortcuts.

So what? I find the wad file on the internet for "retro city ransom", download it, and install the wad using multi mod manager? >.> that all seems too easy. Isn't there some kind of ticket system that verifies that the game is legit?

The ticket is inside the wad file.

There is a ticket system, but it's about the 2nd or 3rd thing that was hacked. Google trucha bug. All wads of WiiWare and VC games you might find in the internet are fake signed, and you will have no problems installing them, when you use an IOS or cIOS that ignores signatures. Select IOS236 or IOS249 in the wad manager of your choice. Signatures are only checked when installing stuff, not when running stuff btw.

Be careful where and what you download, you can easily brick your Wii with a wrong wad.

Not that I'm that worried but just out of curiosity what should I look for when screening wads to find out if they're the wrong ones or not?
If necessary I'd prefer you use an example involving the games I mentioned.

If you would install the 3.2 system menu via wad, you would brick your Wii with a 99% chance. Since you can give a wad any name you want, you never really know what the wad contains.

If a channel/VC/WiiWare is just broken, it's unlikely to brick a Wii. In this case the channel just won't work or won't even install.

You can check wads with Dolphin, the gamecube/wii emulator for PC. If the game boots in Dolphin, it should be clean and safe. Another alternative would be to install the wad in some kind of emulated nand, like sneek/uneek. But this is way more complicated to setup. On the other hand with sneek/uneek, you could play your VC and WiiWare from sd card or usb on consoles with the same set of savegames.

Here's some light guidance for you:

Download WAD from interwebs for each game you want
Install WAD using one of the many walkthroughs on GBATemp
Enjoy it on both systems

To confirm WAD is OK, download from multiple sources and compare file sizes, I guess. Or use Dolphin as mentioned above. No one will tell you where to get WADs because it will get them banned.

Since you have bootmii, just backup your nand, then on the rare instance it's a bad wad and screws up your system you should be able to recover.

BootMii is only protecting you if it is BootMii boot2, which next to nobody has, because it can only be installed on the 1st gen Wiis. The nand backup is still important, because it can be flashed with a hardware nand flasher.
