BETHESDA SOFTWORKS ANNOUNCES
WOLFENSTEIN: THE NEW ORDER

MachineGames Forges A New Chapter For This Celebrated Franchise

May 7, 2013 (London, UK) – Bethesda Softworks®, a ZeniMax® Media company, today announced a new title, Wolfenstein®: The New OrderTM, an action-adventure shooter slated for release in Q4 2013. The game is being developed by MachineGamesTM, a studio comprised of seasoned developers known for creating compelling, critically-acclaimed story-driven games. Wolfenstein has been widely credited for helping establish and popularize the first-person shooter genre, and Wolfenstein: The New Order is a reimagining of this franchise – offering players a gripping and dramatic experience. The official announcement trailer can be seen today at Gamereactor.dk, .fi, .no and .se.

Wolfenstein: The New Order is scheduled for release on Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, PC, and next generation consoles. Additional details about the game will be revealed in a series of exclusive feature stories with Gamereactor.dk, .fi, .no and .se beginning on Wednesday, May 8th.

“We are excited to bring a new chapter of Wolfenstein to gamers everywhere,” said Jens Matthies, creative director at MachineGames. “As fans of the series, working on this game is an honor, and our team is driven to create an unforgettable action-adventure experience that will make FPS fans proud.”

And knowing GBAtemp, you're probably wondering "WHAT ABOUT WII U!!!"
An official with publisher Bethesda told Polygon they were being deliberately vague about their definition of "next-gen consoles" when asked if that included the Wii U.

Looks like they went full Iron Sky... which is fine by me!

Still, the last game was painfully mediocre at best, so I'll keep my expectations guarded. I just hope this game won't be a Wolfen-stain on the franchise's legacy.

I do like the old Wolfenstein games, and I do like Bethesda... Sooo I'm hopeful! (Extra hopeful if it comes for Wii U)

I wish people would stop recycling IPs, I don't want every even slightly new game to be a reboot or reimagining of an existing franchise.

as enemies they did zombies, mutants, mages, adolfs, doctors and now they did robots, but I still fear only one guy on entire Wolf franchise:

Sooooo they will put a welfare version on the PS3 and 360 despite the fact that both of their replacements are coming out at Christmas time, yet they won't admit to doing a Wii U version which shits all over the PS3 and 360 for graphics? Sounds pretty derpy to me. The amusing thing is that the graphics engine won't be so advanced that the Wii U won't be able to run it, looks like it will be another grey scale FPS game where they have not botched the whole idea of the franchise in the first place, probably to remain PC to the "don't offend me with Nazi's brah" crowd.

With robots, it already is and the game hasn't even been released. Wolfenstein was built on killing Nazi's and saving the world, people are just afraid that doing that sort of thing now is not only going to piss off the German's, but it's going to piss off a lot of politically correct people in this world.

Yeah, I sort of completely doubt that. We still have plenty of games featuring the Nazis as enemies (hell, even the last Wolfenstein had them, and that was just a few years ago), and I'm sure there'll still be human enemies in the mix as well.

Plus, this is Wolfenstein we're talking about - the franchise that gave us Robo-Hitler. Nazi robots are hardly a radical leap.
