Just bought a new Western Digital My Book Essentials 1TB and format 2 partitions 1st with fat32 with all usb loader gx files and 2nd formatted with Wbfs loaded 100 games on drive with no problem. When I tried to load on Wii that is running 4.2U rev20 everything works emulators and media files but it will not load usb

here is error I get
loader gx. init wbfs...-1000
you have isues with a slow disc, or a difficult disc
reloading 222...0
initialize sd card
load ehc module
deinit sd card
initialize wbfs...0
initialize sd card
initialize usb device
Then goes into screen awaiting for usb device to be connected.

I have tried on 3 different Wii's and get the same problem. I have the regular usb 2.0 that work with no problem on all
Wii's

Do you have IOS58? If not, are you using the IOS58 builds?

Are your partitions both primary (NOT extended) with the FAT32 partition set to active?

Your issue is typical when your WBFS partition is a logical/extended partition, and not a primary partition.

These usb 3.0 drives are supposed to be compatible with the 2.0 ports. it's the standard size usb port and it has the four usb 2.0 contacts in the same location. from what i read they should be completely backward compatible.

update, I believe it has something to do with sleep mode. I was playing with the off button in back and got the usb loader games to load up. Once I shut system down it wouldn't start up again. I have 3 of the same drives here setup exactly the same but they are the 2.0 and work without any problems. The box states USB 2.0 compatible.

New WD drives have a Virtual CD drive (vcd) that needs to be disabled, it cant be removed as stored along with the firmware, the other thing is new wd drives use's Advanced Format (afd)

I could never get Triiforce to see the Fat32 partition, bt USB loaders worked fine

I just got a WD mypassport USB3/USB2 and it won't work with 222.
My working setup for now is r20 249,57 globally and hermes v5.1 223,37 for some games.
For people who use a WBFS partition, the solution is to use an older revision of USB Loader GX (r938 doesn't work even using r249)
For people who use FAT32, the next official release of USB Loader GX will work with those drives for sure, at least using r249. For now the most adventurous can compile and use r1004 and it should work.

I have problems with hermes v5 so I am using hermes v4 and loading 222 with no problem . The newest rev for usb loader gx is r883. My only problem so far is getting the Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands to work because it requires rev935 or newer

I have a WDBACY5000AWT (1 large WBFS partition), I can load my HDD with CFG Loader (updated to the latest beta version). I have Wii system menu 4.3E, yesterday installed Hermes IOS 5.1 (202, 222, 223 and 224) and Waninkoko CIOSX rev 20 (before that I had installed Hermes v4 and Waninkoko rev 19). I stil cannot run music games (like Band Hero). I tried a lot of USB loaders (uLoader, GX loader, WiiFlow, NeoGamma, etc) only CFG loader and NeoGamma can read my HDD, but cannot load music games (I tried loading with all available IOS). It looks like all IOS wont load my HDD. What can I do?
