  1. FAST6191 replied to the thread Do you think we will see third party Joycon?.

I have no idea what goes at this point, however I would not be surprised to see Nintendo take a leaf out of MS' playbook and block off unofficial offerings via a chip. This would then mean third parties could exist but either for hacked consoles...

  2. FAST6191 replied to the thread How to create tables for Japanese ds roms.

The table/encoding list is probably not a large part of the game, even if you include the pictorial (or, not that it really exists in games, vector) definitions of the characters/glyphs/runes/symbols/whatever. Whether it improves memory io or...

  3. FAST6191 replied to the thread How to create tables for Japanese ds roms.

Why do PMs? It is reading conversations on forums that taught me a lot about this sort of thing. Back to the question though. Do you mean replace existing kanji you might not want to use? Or do you mean add new characters to an encoding in gaps...

  4. FAST6191 replied to the thread How to create tables for Japanese ds roms.

Quite often we have to explain the concept of tables, you come to us knowing that already so that is all good. 1) NFTR is just a font format. There are many other but it is the one Nintendo provided for the DS and it is pretty good at what it...

  5. FAST6191 replied to the thread I'm gonna try the Switch, any requests?.

As others said we have seen a fair bit of coverage already so go do you. If you have some capability for high speed video then maybe some more of that. I would like some detailed measurements of things but I can wait until someone has it there...

  6. FAST6191 replied to the thread How to create tables for Japanese ds roms.

"But Japanese has over 10.000 or something like that Kanji with no real order." As much as I know . is used as a number separator in many European languages that still amuses me every time. But yes it might well boil down to hand encoding every...

  7. FAST6191 replied to the thread VBAlinkreal.

I did have a quick search using the stuff from https://web.archive.org/web/20051227101606/http://www.oriums.com/gba.htm but it was a bit before all started mirroring everything all the time. On the wireless adapter then no idea, I imagine not...

  8. FAST6191 replied to the thread AMD Launches Ryzen: 52% More IPC, Eight Cores for Under $330, Pre-order Today, On Sale March 2nd.

Are any of the available boards reasonably well featured basically server boards without the warranty and ECC support (hardly a dealbreaker but dual network ports and things like that) or are they stripped down toys like the earlier DDR4 boards?...

  9. FAST6191 replied to the thread Homebrew download play.

DS download play applications are signed. There is a custom firmware/firmware hack called flashme that dodges this signing. It is not impossible that you could find an exploit in a game using wifi/local to in turn trigger an exploit in something...

  10. FAST6191 replied to the thread VBAlinkreal.

I assume the OP means the VBAlinkreal fork that appeared many years ago. It allowed people to make a cable which worked like a link cable and went out to the GBA to allow link games to work that way. The specs for the cable were lost long when...

  11. FAST6191 replied to the thread Suggestion Baking/Cooking section for users to show off food's they have cooked..

You might be overthinking this. The art section is there for creative type stuff and posting there would probably be fine. If it gets moved it gets moved, in any case as long as you were not warned before about it you would be acting in good faith.

  12. FAST6191 replied to the thread Suggestion Baking/Cooking section for users to show off food's they have cooked..

GBAchef was a joke after a series of food threads ( http://gbatemp.net/threads/best-canned-tuna-ever.346240/page-2#post-4611518 ), and I thought it would in turn make a good series of food discussions whenever something food related popped into...

  13. FAST6191 replied to the thread What the heck is this thing?.

The following has a nice overview of motors if you wanted [MEDIA] and yes it is the device (in series with everything else) that determines the current drawn, classically this is the V=IR equation. Modern power electronics can turn higher power...

  14. FAST6191 replied to the thread What the heck is this thing?.

12V would be in line with many things, should power the amp and is a common voltage to boot. If you have a 120V transformer and the player still works then measure away, far nicer than counting turns or any of the other methods. Some motors...

  15. FAST6191 replied to the thread can only load 4megabyte or smaller GBA roms.

GBA trimmers merely take a ROM and trim any unused space off the end. As no sensible dev would use chip sizes beyond that they needed it is never going to go below 4 megs if it did not start there. Theoretically I guess you could slice up a ROM...
