thankz for the comment and bug posted on my blog, i feel like i wanna continue this little project again happy.gif
first of all, it seem there's some known bug when you played this patched rom on M3, where it would freeze at intro movie (can easily pass by keep pressing A button before intro).
my best guess this was cause by the rom header. i did mess arround with the header info a bit, change a few detail to suit my need (tittle, etc) using romer. later on i find that the 'maker code' was changed ifrom AF (Namco) into KX (what ever is that). i've managed to restore teh maker code, but just in case, i also restore all info and header, completely into it's original state.

i don't own an M3 cart, so i can't really tested it out, if someone could tes this new patch on M3 and post the result i would be gratefull.

get info and download at http://setya5785.wordpress.com/tales-of-in...sh-translation/

EDIT : there has been some technical problem with my patcher maker, so download currently un-avaiable. i'll try to get it done and get the patch ready in an hour or so. please check again later.

sorry for the wait.
patch now online and can be downloaded. link avaiable on my blog (ToI project page). feel free to test it out.
the translation it self, as i explained before, basicly still the same with previous version, juts some fix on header info.
for you who own an M3, pplease test this patch and let me know how it work. does it still have that bug (free on intro movie).
thankz

i'm also condiering to continue this little project. thankz for all your support

Starting from release TOI-R01, i'll be using xDelta to generate and apply patch, the programm already included on patch download. please read readme.txt for detail on how to patch.

Download avaiable at http://setya5785.wordpress.com/tales-of-in...sh-translation/

Project.......: Tales of Innocence Translation Patch
Release date..: 03 March 2008
Author........: Setya5785
Website.......: http://setya5785.wordpress.com

current patch info and download : http://setya5785.wordpress.com/2008/03/03/toi-r02/

It seem my previous fix - TOI-R01 - (although already minimize some random crash), there's stil some rom crash reported, one that being obvious is when Iria cast Aqua Edge, it would make the rom crash (and probably some other magic casting or other crash that might occur not included on feedback). sorry about that, it seem that i haven't really 'cleanse' all part from my previous part. since my original translation log are gone, so didn't really know which part (offset i change), after a while checking file comparison report, there's a bit of data that escape my previous checking (when i made that TOI-R01), teh fact that i actually didn't remember making any change it that offset, probably because previously i use NINJA to create my patch (since my log are gone, like it or not, it left me with the already made patch to work on), at that time (and now still) NINJA is in BETA stage, so probably some problem occur there.
finally, after re-read comprison report, made some change again, the part where teh rom crash when Iria cast Aqua Edge are officially gone happy.gif hopefully it will also fix other crash, since i can't re-create all the circumstances that cause rom crash included in feedback, so i can't test all case.
please send another feedback if there's another problem. mean while i'll keep checking comparison report again, just in case i missed something again. enjoy your game happy.gif

to apply patch, copy your 'clean' untrimmed Tales of Innocence rom into patch folder and then run patchme.bat.
newer patch release are accumulative, in other word, all patch release changes already included in the newest patch so it necessary to use a clean/unpatcher rom each time you wanna patch using a newer release.

Patch History :

TOI-R01
- another fix for rom crash (iris'a aqua edge cast rom crash, and some other rom crash).

Hi.

I am really eager to patch this game but I have a horrible dreaded mac so I can't patch it with the program you include in the rar. Is there another way? (not running an intel mac and am sick of hearing about bootcamp, wine etc.)

I'll generate a bsdiff patch for you. In the meantime, go and look for a bsdiff patcher for Mac (it might even be included)

------------------------

QUOTE
bsdiff is quite memory-hungry. It requires max(17*n,9*n+m)+O(1) bytes of memory, where n is the size of the old file and m is the size of the new file. bspatch requires n+m+O(1) bytes.

bsdiff runs in O((n+m) log n) time; on a 200MHz Pentium Pro, building a binary patch for a 4MB file takes about 90 seconds. bspatch runs in O(n+m) time; on the same machine, applying that patch takes about two seconds.

Come back in a few hours.

By "all translated on paper", are you talking about the menus or everything (dialogue included)?

P.S. Setya, you might be interested in this guy's offer.
http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessag...;topic=43170744
He is willing to translate the game script if someone can provide him with the Japanese text. I'm also going to PM this to psychoblaster. Hopefully, someone will take this guy up on his offer and we can have this game translated into English in no time!

EDIT: Someone wrote a really good FAQ/Walkthrough!
http://homepage.mac.com/kenzhao/20071221KOULI.html

Also, I'm willing to proofread the text if anyone is willing to start making a patch with translated dialogue. Summer vacation just started, so I have PLENTY of time. I also need something to hold me over while I wait for Darth to finish translating Act 2 of Soma Bringer (xP) so I can proofread (and play through) that too.

dialog and story included wink.gif
all that data and the jap text i extracted from the game went down down with my hard drive though.
well, it won't be too difficult to extract the text. but honestly speaking, i'm not quite into it anymore.
as i mention before, my goal was only basic translation and some item due to my free time only limited till early march. now i'm back to work and school so i don't really have much time. lol, next semester is my last year at university, so kinda busy preparing my research.
sorry for that, so it seem that i stop here (you can safely assume). i hope psycoblaster could finish his happy.gif

and about that walkthrough, i read it it too, and i've republish it on pdf format for easy offline reading (all credit goes to the original author), fixed some jap typo error. you can check it on my blog.

How do I apply the patch, and how do I know if it worked. I started the game and it took like 10 minutes for the opening scenes, only to have the game freeze. It keeps happening.

What is the original rom size and what is the patched size? Do I trim the rom after patching? Are the menus translated? And when does the first bit of translated text show up?

Thanks in advance, whoever helps.

Works fine for me, also prolly don't trim it, and menu's are translated, the most basic things are translated, like the menu etc. smile.gif
