iPlayer launching worldwide July 1st
Slot-1 media player for the DS and DSi
dsiplayer.jpg
Just a quick news piece to let you all know that the iPlayer, the new slot-1 media player that handles various video formats directly will be hitting retail stores on July 1st 2009.

Also, the team have released a new loader that adds the video bookmark feature I suggested in the hands-on and have also eliminated the syncing issues when seeking within videos.

Stay tuned to GBAtemp.net for the full written review.

The Price is 45 USD

Also does anybody know if we well be getting a ROM loader, Cheats or even RTS

With the extra power will we MAYBE get :

Web Browser working without memory pack

depends if they open up the extra CPU to homebrew (or if any homebrew devs figure out how to use it themselves). in any case it might not be able to improve emulation etc, most likely its a specialised chip for video decoding.

It wont be able to do that.

at 45$...i'd rather still convert to DPG, that doesn't cost me anything to do.

QUOTE(Mr.Mysterio @ Jun 27 2009, 10:41 PM) $45.That's not so bad for people without a Movie player.I guess I wont be getting this then.

Exactly, literally everyone has some sort of Media Playing device, phone, DVD player etc, i just don't see the idea behind this. At that price, it isn't value for money.

Personally this has to be the WORST idea ever.
Yes before I though it was a "revolution" for the DS.
But it's a fail, I don't know who would want to watch movies, tv shows on the low res DS screen.
The PSP and Ipod touch/phones are great cause of their max resolution etc.
The DS Resolution is freaking low and pixel like no tomorrow.
For those that have a PSP and would buy this cart its a shame.
If this cart is more than 30 USD good luck only reason that other flash carts are successful are because they are
able to play download roms.

Yeah a romloader is probably the key of the success.
Don't know if Normmatt will do something concerning that, in fact for free ...

oh boy oh boy!.. July 1st..

I will get this IF they could make a rom loader running on this one.. I am just hoping someone could actually do that..
however, if not, well i guess.. i will consider the price.. if its more than 30+ USD and unable to run rom loader.. i probably won't get it.. but if its less than 30 then ill consider buying it... even though rom loading is not supported.. just for the sake of completing every cart there is for my collection

well that or the fact it will be in retail stores selling to folk who have no idea what a flashcart is but want video on DS.
but the power drain is a drag. according to there site

"Q?How about the iPlayer power consumption?

A?iPlayer can play video more than 4 hours. Test environment: Brightness 2, volume biggest with earphone, NDSL?"
on a DSi this would play for 2 hours with video and 4 with Music on brightness level 2 LAME
AS I said before MoonShell 2 for the win
